Beth Medrash Govoha names
community relations director

Rabbi Joshua Hill

LAKEWOOD — Rabbi Joshua Hill of Lakewood has been appointed director of community relations and senior programs at Beth Medrash Govoha, of which he is an alumnus, announced Rabbi Aaron Kotler, the college’s chief executive officer.

"Rabbi Hill was recruited by his alma mater, the world’s largest school for Talmudic studies, to build and strengthen ties between the fast-growing college and area residents, including local senior communities," said Kotler.

According to Beth Medrash Govoha Board President George Weinberger, "Education and community service are the core mission at Beth Medrash Govoha. The appointment of Rabbi Hill, an extremely talented scholar, educator and speaker, as director of community relations and senior programs will further this cherished mission."

Hill is currently initiating a series of programs for Ocean County’s senior community. His programs include personal speaking engagements with senior audiences, an interactive speakers-on-the-go program, and a special guided walking tour.

The tour visits the Yeshiva’s study hall and library buildings, as well as the new multipurpose Israel Beren Hall featuring dining and assembly facilities, classrooms and offices. The tour is fully accessible to the handicapped.

"We’re very proud of what we’ve accomplished at Beth Medrash Govoha," said Hill. "BMG has a wealth of educational resources which we seek to share with our local friends and neighbors so they, too, can gain from the college’s famed traditions."

Hill is the son of film actor Steven Hill, widely known for his recent role as the district attorney on NBC’s Law and Order. A native of Rockland County, N.Y., Hill pursued a Talmudic studies program, completing his master’s degree and rabbinical certification at Beth Medrash Govoha in 1996. He embarked on a teaching career at a local Yeshiva elementary school.

Hill resides in Lakewood with his wife, Malka, and their children.
