ROBERT F. HARWOOD, 82, of Farmingdale died Oct. 10 at home. He was born in Roselle. He was a mechanical engineer at Fort Monmouth, ECOM area. After his retirement, he was employed by Analytics Inc., Tinton Falls, for nine years, retiring in 1987. He was a former committeeman and member of the Farmingdale Borough Council in the early 1980s. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Farmingdale and a former member of the church’s finance committee. He was a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 65, and later served as a troop committeeman. He was a member of the Farmingdale Historical Society. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, where he served in the Mediterranean and Pacific theaters. He was a 1939 graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken. He was a former member and sponsor of Sigma Nu Fraternity and a member of the Old Guard. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; two sons and one daughter-in-law, David of Northfield, and Kevin and Diane of Howell; one sister, Virginia Rinaldo of Dueville, Italy; and one grandson. A memorial service was held at the First United Methodist Church of Farmingdale. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, N.J. Affiliate Memorials Program, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick 08902-4301; or the American Lung Association of N.J., 1600 Route 22 east, Union 07083.

ANNETTE D. REISS KARCHMAR, 71, of Lakewood, formerly of Old Bridge, died Oct. 11 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Her husband, Edward S. Karchmar, died in 1974. Surviving are three sons, Larry of Old Bridge and Michael and Marc, both of Lakewood; two sisters, Ceil Kriendler and Clare Paul, both of Florida; and one grandson. Graveside services were held at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin section of Woodbridge.

JEANETTA K. TREAT, 77, of Freehold, died Oct. 15 at home. Born in Freehold, she resided there all her life. Mrs. Treat was a secretary for the Freehold Township school system for 18 years before retiring in 1984. Mrs. Treat was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold, a member of Deborah Heart and Lung Chapter, Freehold Township, and a member of the Women’s Auxiliary BPOE No. 1454, Freehold. Her husband, Leland R., died in August. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn A. and Kerry, of Arlington Heights, Ill.; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle T. and Randall Reid, of Freehold; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and George Nimick, of Howell; a brother, Edward O. Kirby, of Florida; and five grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold. Interment was in St. Rose of Lima Mausoleum, Freehold. Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, New Jersey Chapter, 200 Middlesex Turnpike, Iselin 08830.

GEORGE HENRY LLOYD, 101, of Freehold died Oct. 16 in Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Kidderminster, England, he immigrated to Freehold in 1919. He was a weaver in England from 1916 to 1919 and then worked at the Karagheusian Rug Mill, Freehold, for 35 years. He was later employed at the Moreau Plant, Freehold, and at the John L. Montgomery Medical Home, Freehold, for several years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Freehold, since 1926, and was a member of the Unity Club at the church. His wife, Viola Collins Lloyd, died in 1993. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles H. and Barbara, and Gilbert and Linda, all of Howell; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild. The funeral service was held at the First Presbyterian Church, followed by interment in Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.

MARY E. BASISTA MARCINCAK, 93, of Lakewood died Oct. 14 in Genesis Elder Care, Lakewood. She was born in Jersey City and had lived there, in Elmwood Park and in Middletown before moving to Lakewood two years ago. She was employed as a maintenance worker by Owens Illinois, New York City, before retiring. Her husband, John S. Marcincak, died in 1985. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, John and Rita Marcincak, of Lakewood; a sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and Alfred Rinn, of Jersey City; three granddaughters, two grandsons and 14 great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Catherine’s Church, North Middletown. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

ROBERT GEORGE BRAKER, 74, of Freehold Township died Oct. 17 in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was an inspector for the Nestle Co., Freehold, where he was employed for 39 years, retiring eight years ago. Prior to that he was employed by the A&M Karagheusian Rug Mill, Freehold. He was a caretaker at the James L. Shearer Estate, Colts Neck, and was a chauffeur for several movie stars. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Ivis Blanchard Braker; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert III and Jill Braker of Jackson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Michael Tellier of Jackson, and Sandra and Kenneth Hans of Lakewood; a sister, Barbara Blanchard of Freehold Township; and seven grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township, followed by interment in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.

KATHERINE ANN PACHMAN, 48, of Freehold Township died Oct. 12 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Jersey City, she lived there before moving to Freehold Township in 1979. She was a past president of the Freehold Township Special Needs PTO and a past president of the Eisenhower School PTO. She is survived by her husband, Martin R.; a son, Brian Joseph, at home; a stepdaughter, Dayna Sloane Pachman of Silver Spring, Md.; her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Hingston Brady of Howell; a brother, Joseph Brady of Hamilton Township; and a sister, Kerry Fitzmaurice of Freehold. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.

DOROTHY KALETA SMITH, 78, of Lakewood died Oct. 12 in Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. She was born in Perth Amboy. Surviving are a daughter, Marie Bocchino of East Brunswick; a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Joyce Penna of Forked River; and six grandchildren.

GARY ALLEN WINKLER, 50, of San Diego, formerly of South River, died Oct. 10 in San Diego. Surviving are his parents, Edward Sr. and Sophie Winkler of Brick; a son, Kyle, and a daughter, Kristin, both of Lakewood; and two brothers, Edward Winkler Jr. and Wayne Winkler, both of Brick. Services were offered at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.

JOSEPH F. SACERDOTE, 48, of Howell is among the missing in the Sept. 11 attack on the World Trade Center, New York City. Mr. Sacerdote was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Staten Island, N.Y., before moving to Howell in 1991. He was a vice president at Cantor Fitzgerald, where he was employed for the past five years. He was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Farmingdale. He was a graduate of St. John’s University, class of 1977, and earned his black belt in karate in 1998. He was predeceased by his daughter, Alison, in April. Surviving are his wife, Arlene, of Howell; a daughter, Andrea, at home; his mother, Frances Sacerdote, of Manalapan; his mother-in-law, Clementine Anderson, of Staten Island; three sisters, Mary Zummo, of Staten Island, Jane McMillan and Kiki Crowley, both of Manalapan; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Farmingdale. Memorial donations may be made to the Joseph F.
