Bulletin Board Former deli owner writes cookbook Cynthia Russert-VanDenBogart, former local business owner, recently released her first cookbook, Cyn-fully Delicious … Tempting Your Taste Buds to a Heavenly Level. After years of running the family business, Russert’s Deli in the Robbinsville section of Washington Township, Russert-VanDenBogart has assembled a collection of recipes from the deli and her catering business as well as family favorites. On May 9 there will be a book signing at the Russerts Deli & Food Market, Route 130, Washington, which is under new ownership. Cyn-fully Delicious includes "Temp-ting Tasties" to "Devilish Desserts," everyday meals to entertaining entrees, and helpful hints to charts and guides. In the book, the author reminisces about some of her fondest and funniest memories of business and family life. Included is how to make Russert’s potato salad as well as Cyn-fully’s Crab-Stuffed Chicken Breast. Jackson police will look for use of seat belts The Traffic Safety Unit of the Jackson Police Department has been successful in obtaining grant funding to enforce and promote the use of safety belts and child restraint seats. The funding is provided by a federal grant administered through the New Jersey Department of Highway Traffic Safety. The grant for $9,720, "Make it Click 2002," is designed to promote the use of seat belts, according to a press release. Police said they want to see eight out of every 10 drivers and passengers buckled up while driving in a vehicle. The initiative began during the first week of May and will run approximately 18 weeks for three six-week waves during the high-traffic times of the day and during the high-volume holiday driving. Drivers stopped without seat belts will be given summonses, and those stopped and found to be using their seat belt will be given a phone card. Nobel Peace Prize laureate set to speak Lakewood High School has been chosen as the New Jersey site for a visit by Dr. Betty Williams, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, as part of a program being sponsored through the Child Legacy Campaign of Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Williams received the Nobel Peace Prize for her work as a campaigner of children’s rights. She was spurred to action after witnessing the murder of three Irish children in Belfast in 1976. She has been recognized by President Jimmy Carter, Pope John Paul II, Queen Elizabeth II and U.N. Ambassador Andrew Young. She will be accompanied by Dr. Michael Gaffley, who worked with President Nelson Mandela of South Africa on rewriting the Post-Apartheid Child Care Act. Williams and Gaffley will be speaking to a group of Lakewood High School seniors and juniors on May 17 at the high school.
