OLIVE MARIE COSTELLO PIERCE, 75, of Belford died April 18 in Providence Hospital, Providence, R.I. She was born in Elizabeth and lived in Belford before moving to Wall Township, where she lived for 23 years. She was a graduate of Jersey City Medical College Nursing School. She was also a member of the Jersey City Medical College Nursing School Alumni Association. She was a registered nurse and supervisor at Medi Center, Lakewood, where she worked for 17 years, retiring five years ago. Surviving are her husband, Edward; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Edward and Lori Pierce of Kerensville, N.C., and Stephen Pierce of Brick; two daughters and one son-in-law, Elizabeth and Kevin Scott of Belford, and Maria Pierce Peossie of Bristol, R.I.; and four grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Church, New Monmouth. Entombment was in St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia. PATRICIA M. PASQUALE FIERRO, 47, of Howell died April 22 at home. Born in Elizabeth, she lived in the Parlin section of Sayreville and Morgan before moving to Howell 16 years ago. She was employed by Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, as a registered nurse for the past seven years. Previously, she was employed by John F. Kennedy Medical Center, Edison. She was a member of St. Veronica’s Church, Howell, and a former member of St. Mary’s Church, South Amboy. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, South Amboy, and Middlesex County College, Edison. Her father, Nicolo Pasquale, died in 1995. Surviving are her former husband, Leonard Fierro; a daughter, Nicole, and a son, Anthony, both of Howell; her mother, Catherine Pollino Pasquale of Parlin; two brothers, Joseph of Hamilton and Ronald of Reeders, Pa.; and a sister, Laurie Stieglitz of Flemington. A Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Church, South Amboy. Entombment was in the Good Shepherd Mausoleum at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia. ROBERT T. OBERLE, 69, of Howell died April 26 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. He was born in Jersey City and lived in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown before moving to Howell Township 21 years ago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of VFW Post No. 2179, Middletown; and a communicant of St. Veronica’s Church, Howell, where he sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He belonged to a country western dancing group, which entertained at nursing homes in Monmouth and Ocean counties. He was a telephone lineman for N.J. Bell for 37 years, retiring from the Freehold office in 1992. Surviving are his wife of 21 years, Eleanor Sheehy Oberle of Howell; a son, Robert of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown; two daughters, Barbara Yanoschak of East Hampton, and Cynthia Davis of Ocala, Fla.; a stepson, Frank Nappo of Kennebunk, Maine; a brother, Charles of Keansburg; and seven grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Veronica’s Church. Interment was private. MARY E. HODE SHENKO, 78, of South River, died April 23 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are her husband, Walter Shenko; two sons, Robert and David Shenko, both of South River; two brothers, Robert Hode of South River and John Hode of the Toms River section of Dover; and a sister, Evelyn Sadowski of Jackson. A service was held at Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, South River. Interment was in the church cemetery. NICOLA ROCCO CRUPI, 87, of Freehold Township, died May 3 in Freehold Township. Born in Italy, he lived in Red Bank for many years before moving to Freehold Township five years ago. Mr. Crupi was a self-employed carpenter in Red Bank until his retirement 17 years ago. He was a communicant of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan, and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Fair Haven. Mr. Crupi was predeceased by his wife, Maria, who died in 1995. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Nick and Donna of Howell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dora and Ron Mussenden of Manalapan, and Francesca and Emile Savia of Freehold Township; a sister, Maria Rizzo of Italy; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Thomas More Church followed by entombment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. |
