Plumsted Township voters came through for community’s children Residents in Plumsted were recently asked to support our schools twice in the last two months through direct voter action. Both times our community came through for our children. With both the referendum in March and our operating budget vote in April, we are proud that our community recognizes that our children are our greatest investment; and that we, as Board of Education members and administrators, try our very best to get the most value of every dollar spent. As reported in a local newspaper recently, only three of 11 (school) districts in western Monmouth and northern Ocean counties had their operating budget passed on April 16. With wonderful community support, we were one of the three who can move forward with our education plans. We were fortunate to be able to have no tax increase for our 2002-03 operating budget. We wish to thank our voters and promise to keep the trust implied in the positive vote; to offer excellent academic programs, meet the various needs of our diverse student population and to do so at the lowest possible cost. With special state aid recognizing our instructional efforts with an academic achievement award, combined with our school district being noted as one in the bottom 10 percent in per pupil costs for similar type districts, we pledge to continue our focus on excellence and value. Thanks to you, our voters, who continue to have faith in our voluntary work for our students.
