Disrespect during national anthem upsetting

I attended the Independence Day fireworks at Johnson Park in Jackson. The fireworks were awesome and I enjoyed them very much. How-ever, I was astonished that when "The Star-Spangled Banner" was played as part of the program, only a few people stood up in its honor.

Worse yet, someone in the audience yelled at me to "Sit down!" I turned around and said, "No, why don’t you stand up?" But I only saw one other person do so.

To act in this manner during the playing of our national anthem is disrespectful to say the least – and even more so on the Fourth of July. Citizens of Jackson and out-of-town visitors, you should be ashamed of yourselves!
