Free income tax help
available in Lakewood

Lakewood area taxpayers can receive free income tax assistance. The program is conducted by Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteers for low and moderate income taxpayers with a focus on seniors and disabled persons seeking an alternative to professional assistance.

One-on-one sessions will be conducted Tuesdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lake-wood library now through April 9. Appointments may be scheduled by calling the Lakewood township manager’s office at (732) 364-2500, ext. 5201. Walk-ins will be accommodated if there are time slots without appointments.

VITA volunteers receive training by the Internal Revenue Service in current tax code and related tax preparation matters. Volunteers concentrate on serving those with basic returns as opposed to the more complicated forms and returns that frequently require preparation by paid professionals.

Flower arranging class

to commence March 2

The Lakewood Community School Program has announced that registration is currently in progress for a six-week flower arranging class that is scheduled to commence March 2, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Flowers by Creative Design Florist, Lakewood Plaza, 1700 Madison Ave., Lakewood.

Mindi Menkins, shop owner, will demonstrate how to blend colors and different types of flowers to make a picture-perfect look. Materials will be available each week at a nominal fee. Call (732) 905-3685.
