Auxiliaries seek volunteers to support CentraState Medical Center

After another year of "fun"draising, the Centra-State Associated Auxil-iaries held their annual luncheon Feb. 1 at Our House restaurant in Howell. Over 150 auxilians including thrift shop volunteers gathered to proudly present the fruits of their labors to the administrators of CentraState Medical Center. The combined efforts of the six auxiliaries and the Thrift Shop (20 Jackson St., Freehold) donated $53,227.17.

Donations from 2003 completed a $50,000 pledge to the radiation therapy center, and much needed and appreciated equipment for the operating room, 3N, and the family medical center. A pledge has been made of $15,000 to the psychiatric unit seclusion area of the emergency room.

CentraState Associated Auxiliary accepts with deep regret the closing of the Silver-mead Auxiliary, which has been in existence since April 1971 as a silver twig of North Howell-Farmingdale Boro Hospital Auxiliary.

Their work over these 33 years has been a labor of love and their decision to close was a very difficult one to make. It was a bittersweet moment as they presented their last check. They will never be forgotten.

The CentraState Associated Auxiliaries are presently located in the following areas: Covered Bridge (Manalapan), Freehold Borough and Township, Manal-apan-Englishtown-Marlboro, Millstone Township and The Villages in Howell. We are looking to grow and have more "fun."

Retirees, present or former employees of CentraState, young business people, and young, middle or mature people in areas such as Howell-Farmingdale, Colts Neck, Jackson, New Egypt, Plumsted Township and Monroe Township are all welcome to join our family of supporters. The idea is to get together with your friends, have fun and at the same time support your local "community" hospital.

Anyone interested in information on joining an existing auxiliary or forming a new auxiliary may call the foundation office at (732) 294-7030 and someone will be happy to answer any questions or meet with you.
