Girl Scout alumnae host
Food Frolic Fund-Raiser

The Girl Scouts of Ocean County alumnae group, the Order of the Ever-green/Ocean, will host its seventh annual Food Frolic Fund-Raiser May 7 at 7 p.m. at the Girl Scouts of Ocean County Mildred J. Galanti Service Center, 1405 Old Freehold Road, Toms River. All are invited to attend. For a donation of $4, guests will receive 25 chances to win shopping bags filled with food. In addition, they will be entered into the door prize drawings which include Girl Scout cookies, of course, in addition to other items. An open buffet of finger food sandwiches and desserts is also included with the donation. Additional tickets will also be available for the cost of $1 for 25 tickets. Several other drawings are planned including a mini auction of new items, a white elephant auction table and a quilt raffle. Tickets will be available at the door. All of the funds raised by the Food Frolic will go to support Girl Scouting in the Ocean County Girl Scout Council area. Details (732) 349-4499.

Georgian Court opens

gates to the community

Georgian Court University will open its historic gates to the community during Welcome Weekend on May 7-8. Visitors will enjoy walking tours of the campus, which is both a National Historic Landmark and an arboretum site. Tours are scheduled on May 7 at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., as well as at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Along the tour, guests will be guided through the luxurious and historic Gould Mansion, the manicured gardens and grounds, the Casino, the Catherine McAuley Chapel and the Raymond Hall Complex. Light refreshments will conclude the 45-minute tour. This walking tour is comprised of outdoor walking on uneven and partially uphill paths and is not wheelchair accessible. In the event of inclement weather, the outdoor portion of the tour will be abbreviated and a slide show will be substituted. Welcome Weekend is open to the public for a fee of $10. upcoming bus trips

Howell Recreation is sponsoring the following bus trips throughout the year:

• Atlantic City, June 19, 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The price is $15 per person. Reservations by May 14.

• New York City Seaport, July 17, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The price is $23 per person. Reservations by June 4.

• Baltimore Inner Harbor, Aug. 14, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The price per person is $29. Reservations by July 2.

• Disney on Ice, Nov. 27, 1:45-7 p.m. Price is $45 per person and includes lower-level seating. Reservations by Aug. 31.

court, bake sale May 8

New Egypt United Methodist Church, 38 North Main Street, New Egypt, will host a Flea Market, Food Court and Bake Sale, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will feature Mother’s Day plants and flowers, toys, bicycles, sports equipment, books electronics, furniture and more.
