ALEX WILLIAMSON, 48, of Manalapan died June 17 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Jersey City, he had lived in the Freehold area before moving to Manalapan three years ago. Mr. Williamson was a truck driver for the Raritan Valley Office Supply Co., Edison. He was a member of the Bible Way Pentecostal Church, Freehold, and had been baptized at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Newark. He is survived by his wife, Frances Bonner Williamson; two sons, Alex and Allen Bradley, both of South River; a stepson, Darryl Rice, and a stepdaughter, Dorian Rice, both at home; and his mother, Trudy Williamson of Lakewood. Funeral services were held at the New Hope Baptist Church, followed by interment at Forest Green Park Cemetery, Marlboro. STEPHAN F. HORNIK, 88, of Millstone died June 19 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in New York City, he had lived in South Amboy before moving to Millstone four years ago. Mr. Hornik was a retired Teamster and a member of union locals 560, 814 and 45; and the Heavy Construction Laborers Union Local 472 at Monmouth Park, Oceanport, and Freehold Raceway, Freehold. He was predeceased by his wife, Marge, who died in 1997. He is survived by two sons, Stephen C. of Jackson and Bruce W. of Millstone; a daughter, Patricia A. Limozinere of Howell; two stepsons, Dennis Merrill of East Monroe, N.Y., and Gerald Merrill of Binghamton, N.Y.; two stepdaughters, Sandra Long of Andrews, S.C., and Sharon Moore of Hemingway, S.C.; a sister, Matsey Schultz of Jacksonville, Fla.; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at St. Rose of Lima Chapel, Freehold, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. ELLEN M. THORVUND, 74, of Freehold Township died June 19 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived in Hicksville, Long Island, N.Y., before moving to Freehold Township 35 years ago. She worked for more than 35 years at Lily Tulip, Holmdel, and also worked part time at ShopRite, Freehold, in customer service. She was a former secretary for and participated in Hands Across New Jersey. She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Frank Leppanen. Surviving are two daughters, Susan White of Freehold Township and Sandy Collins of Bricktown; three sisters, Dorothy Ficken of Clarksburg, Ruth Way of Lakewood and Mildred McCarthy of Hicksville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services were conducted by the Rev. Galene Boyett, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. RITA A. "MOMMOM" SHEIK, 88, of Rumson died June 20 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Elizabeth, she previously lived in West Orange and moved to Rumson in 1961. She was a secretary for N.J. Bell, Newark, until retirement. Prior to that, she was a secretary for 10 years at the Monmouth University library, West Long Branch. She was a communicant of and Eucharistic minister at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. She was also a former president and member of the Rosary Altar Society at Holy Cross Church. She was predeceased by her husband, William A. Sheik Sr., in 1991. She is survived by two sons, William A. Sheik Jr. of Lakewood, and John M. Sheik of Rumson; two daughters, Carol A. Doran of Shrewsbury, and Gloria M. Rowett of Adelaide, Australia; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson, followed by interment at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. ALBERT J. DILLON, 92, of Manalapan died June 21 at Applegarth Care Center, Monroe. Mr. Dillon was a peach farmer in Manalapan for 40 years, retiring in 1975. He is survived by a brother, Edward W. Dillon Sr. of Jackson; a niece; three nephews, including Edward W. Dillon Jr. of Freehold and Joseph A. Dillon of Jackson; six grandnieces; two grandnephews; three great-grandnieces and four great-grandnephews. Interment was at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Born in Hackensack, she had resided in Freehold Borough for 54 years before moving to Howell 16 years ago. Mrs. Quinn was a hairdresser and manicurist in Red Bank and in Freehold, retiring in 1964. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. Mrs. Quinn was predeceased by her husband, Frank A., who died in 1984. She is survived by three sons, Joseph J. of Jackson, Frank A. Jr. of Charlotte, N.C., and James F. of Freehold; two brothers, Alfred Seitz of Princeton and Joseph Seitz of Chicago; three sisters, Marie Hochheim of Whiting, Barbara Redden of River Edge and Rita Capp of Howell; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Chapel, Freehold. MARSHALL J. "WHITEY" WHITECRAFT JR., 81, of Spotswood, formerly of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick and Monroe, died June 27 in The Medical Center at Princeton. His wife, Mildred E. Luizza Whitecraft, died in 1992, and a son, William, died in 1998. Surviving are two sons, Fred Roberts of Pitman and Dale Roberts of Tuckerton; eight daughters, Donna Scott of Spotswood, Debbie McNamara of Howell, Barbara Rutan of Spring Lake Heights, Kathryn Corbet of Monmouth Junction, Rebecca Goodman of the Hamilton Square section of Hamilton, Roberta Cass of Hightstown, Christina Cheney of Cranbury and Ruth Cosma of Bordentown; a sister, Cecilia Whitecraft of the Browns Mills section of Pemberton; 32 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River. JOSEPH M. ZELENAK, 72, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died June 17 in Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. A grandson, Steven, died in 1986, and a son, Keith, died in 2000. Surviving are his wife, Jean Wielonski Zelenak; two sons, Michael of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick and Scott of Parlin; a daughter, Diane Sulikowski of Jackson; a brother Zoltan Zelenak of Payson, Utah; two sisters, Mary Brarans of Middlesex and Irene Santora of Florida; and four grandchildren. Services were offered at the Hungarian Reformed Church, Woodbridge. Interment was in Cloverleaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. EDWARD W. "RED" WILSON, 80, of the Cheesequake section of Old Bridge died June 25 in Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Surviving are his wife, Lois Brockelman Wilson; five sons, James W. of Barnegat, Thomas E. of Aberdeen, John G. of Apoka, Fla., Robert A. of Howell and Paul R. of Jackson; a daughter, Elizabeth A. of Old Bridge; three sisters, Grace Gardener of the Whiting section of Manchester, Helen Jones of Maryland and Florence Strickland of New Hampshire; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Interment was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown section of North Hanover. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. HAYDEE SERRANO, 75, of New York City, died June 19 in Graduate Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa. Mrs. Serrano was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and had lived there before moving to New York City 55 years ago. She was a communicant of St. Cecilia’s Church, New York City. Surviving are her husband, Gilberto Serrano Sr.; two sons, Gilberto Serrano Jr., of New York City, and George V. Serrano, of Jackson; three daughters, Gloria E. Trujillo, of The Bronx, N.Y., and Guadalupe Serrano and Gina J. Smith, both of Jackson; a brother, Jorge Ponce, of New York City; two sisters, Felisa Ponce Brockman, and America Aponte, both of New York City; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Interment was in Forest Green Park Cemetery, Marlboro. ELIZABETH LALIKOFF, 91, of Jackson died June 23 at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. She was a seamstress with the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, Philadelphia, before retiring in 1972. She was a former member of the Philadelphia Buddhist Temple. She was born in Russia. Her husband, Bembe, died in 1967. Surviving are two sons, George Unkunow of Jackson and Sergey Saran of Northport, Fla.; two daughters, Nadia Ubushin of Howell and Lee Urubshurow of Jackson; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services were held at Nitsan Buddhist Temple, West Sixth Street, Howell. Interment was in St. Vladimir Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Jackson. MARGARET LOWELL, 91, of Lakewood died June 27 in Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Mrs. Lowell was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and had lived in Middletown and Leesburg, Va., before moving to Lakewood two years ago. She was employed by the New York City Board of Education as a business education teacher at Jamaica and Bay Ridge high schools for 40 years, retiring in 1973. Her husband, John, died in 1977. Surviving are a son, John B. of the Belford section of Middletown; and a sister, Mary Kemper of North Brunswick. A Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Church, Middletown. Interment was in Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. |
