Obituaries Lillian Perosa Salvaryn Mrs. Salvaryn, 76, of South River, died Oct. 26 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Stanley Salvaryn, died in 2000. Surviving are four sons, Robert Salvaryn of Brick, James Salvaryn of Vineland, David Salvaryn of Readington and Mark Salvaryn of East Brunswick; a sister, Margaret Skrok of the New Egypt section of Plumsted; and three grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Stephen Protomartyr Church, South River. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.
Evelyn A. Owens Mrs. Owens, 68, of Freehold Township, died Oct. 26 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had been a resident of Freehold Township for the past 32 years. Mrs. Owens was a secretary for Bell Labs, Holmdel. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. Surviving are her husband, Gerald J. Owens; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven P. and Tracey Owens of Freehold Township; two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara L. and Scott Davis of Manassas, Va., and Carol Catala of Lakewood; and four grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown, Burlington County. The Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St. Shrewsbury 07702.
Lilyan Polloway Mrs. Polloway, 85, of Holmdel, died Oct. 26 at the Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Hazlet. She had been a resident of Holmdel for the past 30 years. Mrs. Polloway owned and operated Polloway’s Restaurant, Newark, from 1958-66. Prior to that, she was employed at Dolly Madison and at Century 21. She was predeceased by her husband, John W. Polloway in 1975; a brother, Edward Kaczyski; and a sister, Stella Kaczyski. Ms. Polloway is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Carol Ann Polloway of Shrewsbury; two sisters, Helen Kowalski of Howell Township and Rose Kazalski of Union; and two grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. Entombment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. The John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements.
James Watson Mr. Watson, 45, of Hazlet, died Oct. 27 at home. Born in Mineola, N.Y., he resided in North Babylon, N.Y., and Parsippany before moving to Hazlet. Mr. Watson was a pressman at Prestige Graphics, Union, the past seven years. He was a communicant of St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. He was predeceased by his father, James Watson. Mr. Watson is survived by his wife of 19 years, Joanne McCabe Watson; two daughters, Siobhan Watson and Hannah Watson, both Hazlet; his mother, Dorothy Watson of Lakewood; a sister, Donna Castano of Toms River; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joannah McCabe and John McCabe; and two brothers-in-law. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Benedict’s Church, followed by burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements.
Eleanor Mazza Esposito Mrs. Esposito, 72, of Keyport, died Nov. 2 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in New York City, she resided in Hazlet and the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen prior to moving to Keyport one year ago. She was a homemaker and the owner/operator with her husband of American 1776 Cleaning Service, which they owned several years. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was predeceased by three brothers, Joe, Louis and Frank Mazza; and a sister, Mary Del Rosso. She is survived by her husband, Frank Esposito Sr.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Angela Esposito Jr., of Morganville, John and Bonnie Esposito, of Yardville, and Phil and Miriam Esposito, of Lakewood; two brothers, Emanuel Mazza, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Salvatore Mazza, of Illinois; two sisters, Anna Springvoled, of Matawan, and Angela Henderson, of Hazlet; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Church, with interment at the church cemetery. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport. Ann Marie Schumacher Maher Mrs. Maher, 73, of Hazlet, died Nov. 2 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Red Bank, she resided in the West Keansburg section of Hazlet, and Keansburg prior to moving to Hazlet 45 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. She was predeceased by her husband, James Maher in 1971; a grandson, Alexander Osmato III; and a brother-in-law, Gregory Borg. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Susan Maher, of Howell, David and Judy Maher, of Barnegat, and Daniel and Kelly Maher, of Little Egg Harbor; three daughters and one son-in-law, Nancy Reiner, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, Joyce Johnson, of Vermont, and Linda and Christian Sandklev, of Barnegat; a sister and brother-in-law, Elsie Lou and Alfred Boehler, of Marmora; a sister-in-law, Patricia Borg; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was at St. Ann’s Church. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Cesina Remo Mrs. Remo, 84, of Freehold, died Nov. 2 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Limosano, Campobasso, Italy, she had lived in Elizabeth from 1955 to 2000 before moving to Freehold. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, and a former communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Elizabeth. She was also a member of the Montaganese Society, Elizabeth. Mrs. Remo was predeceased last November by her husband, Peter Remo. Surviving are a son, Mario Remo of Freehold; three daughters and sons-in-law, Anna and Richard Hyjack and Carmela and Fred Hoffman, all of Jackson, and Antoinette and Craig Nimick of Freehold Township; two sisters, Gemma Marcantonio of Belgium and Natalina Marcantonio of Italy; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by entombment at St. Gertrude’s Mausoleum, Colonia section of Woodbridge. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
