Ann Soldano

Mrs. Soldano, 83, of Old Bridge, formerly of Jackson, died Nov. 27 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to her retirement in 1989, she was employed as a seamstress with Barbara Dee and Glen Richards Dress Co., South Amboy. Her husband, Lawrence, died in 1995. Surviving are a son, Lawrence of the Parlin section of Sayreville; a daughter, Dorothy Gaydos of Hickory, N.C.; two brothers, Jerry Calcagnile of Valley Stream, N.Y., and Dominick Calcagnile of New York City; a sister, Antoinette Calcagnile of New York City; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.

Janet B. Quinn

Mrs. Quinn, 63, of Manalapan, died Dec. 8 at home. Born in Brookline, Pa., she had lived in Manalapan for many years. Prior to retiring a couple of months ago, she was employed at the Monmouth County Library, Manalapan, for 25 years. Surviving are her husband, Thomas F. Quinn; two sons, Michael Quinn, of White Plains, N.Y., and Stephen Quinn, of Manalapan; two daughters, Ann Goodlow, of Monroe, and Cassie Kelly, of Jackson; a brother, Alan Garfinkel, of Nanuet, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold. Graveside services were held the following day at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association of New Jersey, 1600 Route 22 east, Union 07083.

Michael Scott Bindler

Mr. Bindler, 46, of Montgomery Center, Vt., died from a brain aneurysm Dec. 13 in Montgomery Center. Born in Neptune, he had lived in Freehold before moving to Vermont 15 years. Mr. Bindler was the proprietor of Phineas Swann Bed and Breakfast, Montgomery Center. He had operated Tops N Town Cleaners, Freehold and Manalapan, and Ain’t Just Chicken, Manalapan, before moving to Vermont. He was a graduate of Freehold Township High School and Florida International University. Mr. Bindler is survived by his partner, Glen Bartolomeo, of Montgomery Center; his parents, Larry and Natalie Bindler, of Jackson; two sisters, Robin Cuneo and Lori Bindler, both of Freehold; one niece and one nephew. A memorial service was held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold.

Albert H. Ackerly

Mr. Ackerly, 72, of Keansburg, died Dec. 14 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in New York City, he resided there, Queens, N.Y., and Hazlet, prior to moving to Keansburg four years ago. He was a doorman at 32 B.J., Building Services, New York City, for 25 years, retiring in 1988. He served with the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He was predeceased by three brothers, Frederick, William and Richard Ackerly. He is survived by four daughters, Kathleen Sykes, Christine Twomey and Theresa Ackerly, all New York City, and Annmarie Neu, of Staten Island, N.Y.; a son, Thomas Ackerly, of New York City; three sisters, Grace Dearborn, of Hazlet, Julia Purtill, of Keansburg, and Margaret Winters of Virginia; two brothers, Ronald Ackerly, of New York City, and Joseph Ackerly, of Jackson; his former wife, Bridge Ackerly; five grandchildren; and his dear friend, Nancy Tronolone. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Interment was at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Carolyn M. Sherman

Mrs. Sherman, 60, of Keansburg, died Dec. 11 at home. Born in Newark, she resided there prior to moving to Keansburg in 1972. She was a homemaker and a communicant of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. She enjoyed time with her family and bingo. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Sherman in 1994, a daughter, Carolyn Andalora Hazzard in 1995, and a sister, Geneieve Tamarato in 1982. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Mark and Charlene Andalora, Steven Andalora, and Bill and June Sherman, all of Keansburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Ralph Gencarelli of Keansburg, and Jody and Bill Sherman of the Leonardo section of Middletown; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Arlene and Frank Corso of Hazlet, Debra and Harry Paule of Belford, and Barbara and Bill August of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Alan and Rose Young of Manalapan, and Kevin and Donna Young of Jackson; and eight grandchildren. John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Ann’s Church, followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

Dorothy (Holmes) Holler

Mrs. Holler, 80, of Leisure Village, Manchester, Ocean County, died Dec. 15 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born in South River, she had resided in Edison before moving to Manchester eight years ago. She was predeceased in 1992 by her husband, Joseph Holler. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sherry Holler, of Jackson; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Joseph Masseli, of Connecticut; a sister, Helen Foyle, of East Brunswick; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick, followed by burial at Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.

Barbara Douglas Drew

Mrs. Drew, 86, of South River, formerly of East Brunswick, died Dec. 3 at her daughter’s home in Jackson. Her husband, Elsworth, died in 1999, and a son-in-law, Alfred, died in November. Surviving are a daughter, Vivian Singer of Jackson; a brother, Andrew Douglas of East Brunswick; and a sister, Dorothy Zur of the Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge. A Mass was offered at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.
