Cynthia A. Montano

Mrs. Montano, 70, of Old Bridge, died Dec. 31 at home. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Macy’s, East Brunswick, where she worked for 20 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph R. Surviving are two sons, James of Jackson and Andrew of Freehold; two daughters, Elizabeth of Cranbury and Carol Jacobs of New York City; a sister, Madelyn Brodhead of East Brunswick; and five grandchildren. Services were held at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge. Interment was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown section of North Hanover.

Myria A. McKoy

Mrs. McKoy, 103, of Manalapan, died Jan. 10 at home. Born in South Carolina, she had lived in Manalapan for the past 70 years and had worked as a domestic in the Freehold area, primarily for F. Gilday Freeman. She was also a member of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Freehold. Mrs. McKoy was predeceased in 1986 by her husband, William H. McKoy; in 2001 by a son, George Wallace; and in 1999 by a daughter, Shirley Conover. Surviving are three daughters, Emma Mumford and Arthelia McKoy, both of Manalapan, and Barbara Richardson of Trenton; two sons, Fred Richardson of Howell and Isaac Richardson of Boston; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and two godchildren, Andrew Parrot and Rosemary Hogan. A funeral service was held at Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.

George C. Bittner

Mr. Bittner, 74, of Old Bridge, died Jan. 8 at home. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 214, South River. Mr. Bittner is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan Sowienski Bittner; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William Bittner of Jackson, and John and Rita Bittner of Bethlehem, Pa.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Vincent Carpentiero of South River, Kristine and William Meyer of Old Bridge, and Janice and Stanley Felicki of Chesapeake, Va.; two sisters, Ann Champignon of Branchville and Dolores Springer of Beach Haven; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A Mss of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Old Bridge. Interment was at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. The Brunswick Memorial Funeral Home, East Brunswick, was in charge of arrangements.

Agnes T. (Tomasiello) Riggio

Mrs. Riggio, 70, of the Morganville section of Marlboro, died Jan. 18 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Born in Matawan, she had lived in Aberdeen before moving to Morganville six months ago. A homemaker, she had previously worked in Matawan as a teacher’s aide and as a secretary to the president of the Farmers and Merchants Bank. In addition, she had helped run Tomasiello Restaurant, her family’s business, and was a member of the Matawan Italian-American Association. Surviving are her husband, Vincent J. Riggio; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph V. Riggio and Lisa Amendolla of Keyport; a daughter and son-in-law, Santa Riggio and Todd Smith of Keyport; four sisters, Philomena DeNardo of Matawan, Lucy Maiorano of Spring Hill, Fla., Carmella Howard of Lakewood and Angelina Wicks of Point Pleasant; six brothers, Joseph “Rocky” Tomasiello of New Port Richey, Fla., Sylvester Tomasiello of Manchester, Laurence Tomasiello of Morganville, John Tomasiello of Marlboro, Paul Tomasiello of Spring Hill and Louis Tomasiello of Keyport; and two granddaughters. A Mass was celebrated at St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, Matawan, followed by interment at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Keyport. Day Funeral Home, Keyport, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Stephen Anthony Hoffman Sr.

Mr. Hoffman, 57, of Jackson, died Jan. 12 at Paul Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Born in Jersey City, he had lived in West Keansburg for 31 years before moving to Jackson six months ago. A U.S. Air Force veteran who served during the Vietnam era, he was a boiler mechanic for 18 years for the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), Newark., and had last worked in 2003. He was a communicant of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg, and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 68, West Caldwell. Mr. Hoffman was predeceased by his parents, Stella (Wyckoff) and John Hoffman, and by a brother, Douglas Hoffman, in 1974. Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Rita (Rezentes) Hoffman; a daughter, Sherry C. Hoffman of Jackson; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Jr. and Daetha Hoffman of Tecumseh, Mich.; two brothers, John Hoffman Jr. of North Myrtle Beach, N.C., and Joseph Hoffman of Virginia; and three grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Ann’s Church, followed by burial at Bay View Cemetery, Leonardo. John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements.
