Meetings are not the place for personal attacks

I recently started to attend Jackson Township Commit-tee meetings in an attempt to keep abreast of the township business. Instead, I have witnessed a barrage of personal attacks on Deputy Mayor Michael Kafton. It seems that there are some in this community who wish to disparage this honorable man. I have done a little research to try to determine who these people are.

Vicki Rickabaugh and her friends are lifelong Republicans. Some of them, including Ms. Rickabaugh, actually served on the Township Committee in the 1980s when building approvals were granted indiscriminately to every builder who asked for them.

It has also come to my attention that Ms. Rickabaugh has repeatedly attacked Mr. Kafton on a personal level for years.

The township meetings should be used to conduct township business and not as a forum for personal attacks. The accusatory questions go on and on and I commend Mr. Kafton for answering every one of those questions after the public session. It is inappropriate for politics to be played out at these meetings.

Ms. Rickabaugh, I respectfully request that you and your friends refrain from personally attacking our elected officials.
