The Lakewood BlueClaws are teaming up with Bill and Ken Frank to present the “Ultimate Youth Baseball Camp” at FirstEnergy Park. The camp will take place July 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17, and have BlueClaws players and coaches on hand for instructions.

There will be two different sessions over the course of the five-day camp with Session I for kids ages 7-11 and Session II for kids ages 12-18. Session I will be held on Tuesday, July 12, Thursday, July 14, and Friday, July 15.

Session II will take place on Saturday, July 16, and Sunday, July 17. Both sessions will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 12:30 p.m. each day. Each session will cover all phases of the game with an emphasis on the areas of hitting, bunting, base running, fielding, throwing, pitching and position work.

“This is a great opportunity for kids in the area to get some real professional instruction on how to play the game of baseball,” general manager Geoff Brown said. “It’s not every day you get to work along side professional baseball players and coaches, and we are excited about this event.”

Not only will each camper receive professional instruction from a BlueClaws player and coach, but they will also receive one ticket to the BlueClaws game on Friday, July 15. Game time is 7:05 p.m. against the West Virginia Power, Single-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. Each camper will also receive a food voucher for a hot dog, chips and a soda for the game. They will also get an official camp T-shirt for participating in the “Ultimate Youth Baseball Camp.”

The registration fee for the camp is $125 per camper and space is limited to the first 100 campers for each session. Each camper must bring their own baseball glove. There will be aluminum bats and batting helmets for use but campers are allowed to bring their own.

Campers should also wear appropriate clothing (cap, shorts, T-shirt, and/or sweat cloths) and rubber soled sneakers. No metal cleats will be permitted. Water will be provided but campers are encouraged to bring their own water bottle as well.
