Pottery show and sale continues until Dec. 22

The 2005 Invitational Pottery Show and Sale will take place at the Ocean County Artists’ Guild, Island Heights, Nov. 6 through Dec. 22. Thirteen artists from Monmouth and Ocean counties will be featured including Mare Akana, Lauren Bellero, Barbara Bollman, Chin-Ling Chang, Barbara de la Cuesta, Kathryn Dorsey-Lucas, Lana Kessler, Greg la Placa, Florence McLaughlin, Donna Nicosia, Theresa Secks, Katie Stacy, and Judy Tavill. Functional ware, vessels, and sculptural work will be available for sale.

In addition to the pottery show, the Ocean County Artists’ Guild hosts the Gallery Gift Shop, where unique gifts made by local artists are for sale.

The Ocean County Artist’s Guild is at the corner of Ocean and Chestnut avenues in Island Heights, and is open from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Details: (732) 270-3111

Consumer help booklet

The Ocean County Consumer Affairs Department has published a 27-page booklet, “Consumer Insights,” which contains diverse and topical information to help consumers navigate the marketplace.

The 27-page booklet’s topics range from elder fraud and identity theft to refund policies and tips on heater safety. A copy is available from the Consumer Affairs Department, located in the One-Stop Center in Building No. 2 at 1027 Hooper Ave., or at the County Connection located in the Ocean County Mall, in Toms River. Parade committee will

host trip to New York

The Ocean County Columbus Day Parade Committee is hosting a bus trip to Rockefeller Center in New York City on Dec. 11. The cost of $25 per person includes transportation, free time in New York City for shopping and sightseeing, and refreshments on the bus. The bus will depart from Brick Township High School, 346 Chambers Bridge Road, Brick, at 10:30 a.m. and return to Brick at about 8 p.m. Payment in full is required in order to reserve a seat.
