Kiwanis presents grant to children’s hospital

The New Jersey District of Kiwanis International announced that it will award a $500,000 grant to the Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation. Kiwanis leaders presented the foundation with a gift of $50,000, the first installment in their pledge, at a press conference at Children’s Specialized Hospital, Toms River.

The grant, approved in August at the annual Kiwanis Convention, is the largest contribution ever given by a community organization to Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation. The gift will be disbursed over a 10-year period, with $250,000 helping to fund the cost of construction of the new hospital building and $250,000 dedicated to establishing an endowment fund to defray the cost of treatment for children who are uninsured or underinsured.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.

Children’s Specialized Hospital is the largest comprehensive rehabilitation hospital in the United States. The foundation is the only organization of its kind where every dollar donated helps a child at the hospital. For more information on Children’s Specialized Hospital, visit www.forchildrens.org.
