New Egypt Lightning U11 boys travel soccer team embarked on a new adventure this fall, having entered the New Jersey Youth Soccer State Cup. This experience puts the Lightning up against the top teams in Youth Soccer. New Egypt came out strong and dominated game one of the first round of play against the West Deptford Wolves. The offense was on fire as they fired shot upon shot at the West Deptford goal. The Lightning defense stayed strong, allowing minimal shots on goal, while the midfield worked their magic, dominating control of the ball throughout the game. Although they found it difficult to get past West Deptford's goalie, New Egypt won 1-0 in double overtime on a penalty kick. Without a doubt, New Egypt earned the win. The Lightning boys have proved that hard work, dedication and superb coaching pays off. The boys are ready to face the Hillsborough Roma soccer team on Saturday, Oct. 14, on their home field at 1:30 p.m.
