Police still looking for missing teen

Victoria Laboy
JACKSON - Police are continuing to search for a 17-year-old township girl who has been missing since Aug. 15.

Victoria Delia Laboy was last seen wearing blue jeans and a brown T-shirt. She has a cracked front tooth and is described as being mildly mentally disabled.

"There's been no change in that," said Jackson Detective Sgt. Denis Campbell. "There are no leads on that girl at all."

Campbell said police have been in touch with Victoria's family. He said they have not heard from her.

"She is still missing," the detective said. "She has not been found and it appears she has had no contact with anyone we know of in Jackson."

Victoria was employed at Toys "R" Us in the Freehold Raceway Mall complex, Route 9, Freehold Township, in August, according to police.

She previously lived with her grandmother on Baltic Street in Brooklyn, N.Y., until her grandmother died. Since the death of her grandmother, Victoria had been living with cousins Isha Baker and her husband, Jeff, in Jackson until her disappearance.

At the time of her disappearance two months ago police said it appeared Victoria may have left the Baker residence after a family dispute. She left with no money and no other clothing or possessions.

"The Bakers have had no contact with Victoria and are concerned about her especially since her disability may cause her to be victimized," Campbell said. "She's definitely not at school. She should have started school [in September]. She's not here."

Police Capt. David Newman said the case is still open.

The missing persons investigation continues to be conducted by Detective Mitch Cowit.

Campbell said any assistance that members of the public can provide would be appreciated.

Anyone with information regarding Victoria Laboy is asked to contact the Jackson Police Department at (732) 928-1111 or (908) 307-6722 or Detective Mitch Cowit at (732) 833-3012.
