County response to traffic woes irks resident I read the article in the Oct. 5 Tri-Town News ("Changes in Detour Made"). What a fluff job. What the Ocean County freeholders fail to mention is that the only traffic they are detouring is the local Jackson traffic (southbound) while allowing the speeding commuters headed to Interstate 195 to travel freely northbound. Also, the detour is lifted at 6 p.m. when the southbound commuters are returning (speeding) home so what did they accomplish? Nothing! They want everyone to think they addressed our concerns when they have not. The volume of traffic at rush hour in the morning when children are waiting for school buses has not changed and the speeding cars are still speeding on our street (Lakehurst Avenue). Ocean County Engineer Ronald Lotrecchio mentions that county highways 547, 527 and 528 can't handle the detoured traffic, yet our residential street can? Please, that is laughable. Better to say nothing than nonsense. Our only option is to thank these good 'ole boys come election time for all they failed to do for us.
