Man faces charges in stabbings

JACKSON - Police are asking for the public's help in providing information about a stabbing incident that resulted in injuries to two township men.

According to an Oct. 23 press release from the Jackson Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call from a residence at 220 Bartley Road at 12:56 a.m. Oct. 22. The person who called 911 reported that there had been a stabbing.

Upon their arrival at the scene the officers found that two people had been stabbed during a fight in front of the home.

Police said the fight involved a friend/part-time employee of the resident at 220 Bartley Road and people who had been attending a party at a home at 215 Bartley Road.

Police said John F. Fels, 21, of Jackson, had already left the scene and been driven by a friend to Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood, where he was treated and released for minor injuries to his back and arm.

The responding officers found Scott Madej, 21, of Jackson, lying in the driveway of the home with multiple serious injuries. He was transported and admitted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, in critical condition, according to police.

An update on Madej's condition was not immediately available on the morning of Oct. 24.

Following an investigation by Jackson Police Department detectives and investigators from the Ocean County Prose-cutor's Office, police arrested Brandon Jackson, 21, of Renee Court, Jackson, and charged him with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Police said a weapon and other evidence was recovered at the scene of the crime.

Jackson was placed in the Ocean County jail, Toms River, in default of $265,000 bail set by state Superior Court Judge James Citta.

The investigation into the incident is continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact lead investigator Detective Vincent Rubio at (732) 928-1111.

The Ocean County Sheriff's Office Criminalistics Investigation Unit also assisted at the scene.

Responding for the Jackson Police Department were officers Michael Gro-chowski, Philip Cochran, Michael Kelly and Jeffrey Henba.
