Plumsted hires new officer to bring dept. to 11 members
The appointment of Doell brings the number of full-time fully certified police officers to 11, the highest level in the history of the township. Doell is from Forked River and previously served with the Seaside Heights Police Department. In other business, the governing body established and appointed members to a Business-Public Safety Committee, comprised of representatives from local businesses, the police department and the Township Committee. According to a press release from Mayor Ron Dancer, the Business-Public Safety Committee will meet on a regular basis to address public safety issues and make recommendations to maintain Plumsted's ranking as the safest community in Ocean County. The initial appointments are as follows: New Egypt Town Center representatives, Ron Nevers (New Egypt Market Place), Robert Decker (Decker Securities), Gladys Emery (Roebling Bank), Eyup Yildirim (New Egypt Exxon), and Keith Kucinski (Main Street Glass). Also, Potter's Square Business Plaza representative, Jane Gerber (First Washington Bank). Also, Cream Ridge Mews Business Plaza representative, Rosemary Potkulski (Yardville National Bank); The Plumsted Business Merchants Association President, Herb Marinari (Big Woods Nursery); New Egypt Main Street Executive Director Sharon Gano; New Egypt Neighborhood Preservation Program Coordinator Vicki Berlenbach. Also, Police Department representatives, Michael Lynch, the director of public safety; and Lt. George Titko. Also, Township Committee representatives, Mayor Ron Dancer; Committeewoman Ada Roberts; Mayor's Alternate, Committeeman Ken Francis; and his alternate, Committeeman-elect Eric Sorchik.
