Club earns organization’s top award

JACKSON — The Jackson Optimist Club has been recognized by Optimist International as a Distinguished Club for the year 2005-2006

Always busy with service projects in the community, the Jackson Optimist Club was recognized for its exceptional work throughout the community, its commitment to children, and its continued support of Optimist International and the New Jersey Lower New York Opti-mist District.

“The club is very proud of the recognition it has received from Optimist Inter-national. Few clubs earn this type of recognition each year,” said President Arnie Siegel.

“We are extremely proud of the work we have accomplished in the community this year and the children we have been able to serve.

“This recent honor is a positive reinforcement of everything we have been able to do for the kids and the support the community gives us,” he said.

The Jackson Optimist Club has been supporting the youth of Jackson for more than five years, according to a press release.

Programs and service projects the club is involved in include an annual scholarship program, Camp Quality, the Principal’s Wish List program and the annual Sidewalk Chalk Art Show, to name a few.

Optimist International is one of the world’s largest service club organizations with 120,000 adult and youth members in 3,800 clubs in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico and throughout the world.

Carrying the motto “Bringing Out the Best in Kids,” Optimists conduct positive service projects that reach more than 6 million young people each year.
