Aggravated assault charges lodged

JACKSON — A township man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault following an incident at the Cassville Tavern.

Jackson police Sgt. Steven Laskiewicz reported that at about 11 p.m. Dec. 19, police officers James Anuario, Craig Lindenberg and George Vidalis responded to the Cassville Tavern, Cassville Road and West Veterans Highway, on a report of a fight in progress.

Upon arrival, the officers found a 48-year-old man lying on the ground near the entrance to the tavern. The officers gave first aid to the injured man and called for the Jackson First Aid Squad.

Laskiewicz said that during an investigation of the incident it was determined the victim had been standing outside the tavern and smoking a cigarette when another patron, who was also outside, became combative with him. The victim was then physically attacked by the suspect, police said.

The victim was treated by Jackson First Aid Squad members and transported to Kimball Medical Center, Lake-wood. It was later determined the victim had suffered four broken ribs, a slight concussion and several cuts and injuries to his face and head.

Lindenberg arrested Sandor Seymour, 36, of Blue Spruce Drive, and charged him with aggravated assault. Seymour was processed at police headquarters and transported to the Ocean County jail, Toms River. His bail was set at $50,000.
