Girl Scouts offer special program opportunities

Lakewood
LAKEWOOD - Four new after-school and evening programs for Lake-wood girls are being offered by the Girl Scouts of Ocean County. Programs will be held at the Lakewood Middle School, the Girl Scout After-School Club at Clifton Avenue Grade School, and the Latch Key Program at the Oak Street School.

Girls ages 5-17 and adults from all over are welcome to get involved in Girl Scouts and have the opportunity to build character, confidence and courage, while developing real world skills for success.

The after-school programs will teach the girls how to work in a team, manage money better, and learn how to set and achieve goals, while having fun and developing self-confidence.

Girls can participate in Girl Scouting at the Lakewood Middle School. Girl Scouts of Ocean County offers a program for teen girls, giving them an opportunity to learn money management skills, leadership skills and explore new adventures, all while having fun and meeting new friends.

The small group setting gives each girl one-on-one attention with the membership specialist and a chance to form strong friendships with the other girls.

Girls in grades four through six who are students at the Clifton Avenue Grade School may join the Girl Scout After-School Club as a Junior Girl Scout. The school will provide transportation home.

Through activities and events; earning patches and badges, girls expand their areas of interest, from health and wellness, sewing and cooking to science, technology and car care, to name a few.

The Girl Scout program is offered through the Latch Key Program at the Oak Street School. Girls enrolled in the Latch Key program in grades one through six may join and be Brownies and Junior Girl Scouts.

The Girl Scout program is also offered on two evenings each month at the Oak Street School. Girls in kindergarten through sixth grade may join the fun and learning as Daisies, Brownies and Junior Girl Scouts.

As a member of Girl Scouts of Ocean County, girls are invited to participate in any of the 80 programs and activities offered each year, such as oceanography, self-defense, saving and investing money.

Parents and caregivers are welcome to participate with their daughters. For more information call (732) 349-4499.
