Jackson Women of Today appreciate support for American troops The Jackson Women of Today would like to thank the community for their generous support of the Soldier Care Package Project. Over 85 boxes with more than 1,000 pounds of items were shipped to five addresses in Iraq. We would especially like to thank the Provident Bank's Jackson branch manager Vicki Buczynski, who provided a drop-off location, solicited donations from her company and packed most of the boxes. Chairman Carol Lawrence's children made a patriotic donation bin. Schoor DePalma loaned a truck so Presidential Assistant Gary Mueller and I could transport the care packages to the Jackson Post Office. Kudos to Al, Bill, Shonda and Maureen at the Bennetts Mills post office who let us in early and after hours during the crazy busy holiday season to promptly process our precious priority mail. We gratefully acknowledge the generosity of the Quality Inn of Cookstown; State Farm Insur-ance Agency; Farmer Green's Egg Farm; Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 200; Jackson Chamber of Commerce; Travel Society; American Recreation Military Services (ARMS); WNBC-TV; CentraState Medical Center; McAuliffe School, Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church; St. Monica's fourth-grade CCD; Jackson Dental Professionals; Bank of New York, the individuals who made financial donations to cover postage costs; and all whose anonymous donations turned this request from a Jackson mother for "a box or two" for her son and his fellow soldiers in Iraq to the amazing outpouring of support for so many troops serving our country. Sgt. Carlos Martinez, mail clerk of Charlie Company, sent us a letter, part of which said, "Many of the soldiers have complimented the items received in your packages. On behalf of all the soldiers from Charlie Company 2-12 CAV, I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for the support you have been sending our soldiers here in Iraq. Thank you again for all that you have done for us and may God bless you all!" To which I say, Amen.
