Obituaries James M. Iverson Mr. Iverson, 79, of Freehold Township, died Jan. 28, 2007, at home. He was born in Freehold and was a lifelong resident. Prior to retiring 14 years ago, he was a conductor for NJ Transit, Newark, for many years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post No. 54, Freehold. Mr. Iverson was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Neiberlien Iverson, in 2003. Surviving are two sons, James Iverson Jr. of Toms River, and John Iverson of Plainsboro and his fiancée, Linda Richter; a daughter, Joanne Voorhees of the New Egypt section of Plumsted; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Charles Van Schoick Jr. Charles "Buster" W. Van Schoick Jr., 88, of Howell, died Jan. 28, 2007, at Sunrise Assisted Living of Lincroft. He was a lifelong resident of Howell. Before his retirement in 1975, Mr. Van Schoick was a dairy farmer and also grew sweet corn. He was a founding member of the Squankum Star Club and was an avid hunter. He was predeceased by a son, Ronald Lee Van Schoick, in 1943. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Van Schoick of Howell; a son, Charles W. Van Schoick III of Howell; two daughters, Marie E. Miller of Howell and Sandra M. Schrieder of Jackson; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Harriet Guice of Brick. Services were held at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, followed by interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale. Charles H. Baylis Mr. Baylis, 83, of Englishtown, died Jan. 15, 2007, in University Medical Center at Princeton. His wife, Theresa Baylis, died in 1989. Surviving are his companion, Doris Kisieleski of Englishtown; a son, Randal Baylis of Monroe; two daughters, Melanie Volker and Debbie Baylis, both of Howell; and eight grandchildren. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
Beverly Kay Keeling Depko Mrs. Depko, 46, of Jackson, died Feb. 2, 2007, at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Born in Charleston, W.Va., she had lived in Fontana, Calif., and in Keyport and East Brunswick before moving to Jackson 10 years ago. She was predeceased by her father, Marvin Keeling; a brother, Jeff Keeling; and her stepfather, Robert Melkowits. Surviving are her husband of 26 years, Thomas E. Depko; a son, Thomas A. Depko of Jackson; a stepson, Erik Depko of Jackson; her mother, Molly Keeling Melkowits, also of Jackson; four sisters, Retha Thompson of Moscow, Pa., Doris Bresnick of Matawan, Patricia Loveland of Monroe and Martha Shalayda of East Brunswick; and a brother, Marvin R. Keeling Jr. of Clearwater, Fla. A funeral service was held at Brunswick Memorial Funeral Home, East Brunswick, with private cremation planned. DeBenedetto Fehl Mrs. Fehl, 81, of East Brunswick, formerly of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died Jan. 17, 2007, at home. Her husband, William S. Fehl, died in 1993. Surviving are seven children, William Fehl, Michael Fehl and Ronald Fehl, all of East Brunswick, Stephen Fehl of the Kendall Park section of South Brunswick, Laraine Dunwald of Jackson, Robert Fehl of Old Bridge and Donald Fehl of Edison; a sister, Marie Steffen of Beaufort, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Milltown. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick. Gertrude Cornell Mrs. Cornell, 82, of Howell, died Feb. 5, 2007, at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Born in Weinheim, Germany, she had lived there before moving to the U.S. in 1960. Mrs. Cornell settled in Howell in 1965 and worked in the area as a housekeeper. She was also employed for many years by Howell Lanes. She was predeceased by her husband, Martin L. Cornell, in 2003, as well as two brothers and three sisters. Surviving are two sons, Klause Cornell of Las Vegas and Martin "Butch" Cornell of Howell; and three grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township. Interment was private.
