Obituaries Louis A. Conforti
Mr. Conforti, 86, of Jackson, died Feb. 12, 2007, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township. He was born in Newark and lived in Nutley and Seaside Heights before moving to Jackson in 2005. Prior to retiring in 1982, he was a machinist with Bendex Corp., Teterboro and Eatontown, for more than 20 years. From 1964 to 1980, he also owned and operated the Bozo Drop on the Seaside Heights boardwalk. Mr. Conforti was predeceased by a brother, Jerry Conforti, and a sister, Josephine Russo. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Phillis Conforti; a son, Louis A. Conforti Jr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Phillis and Wayne Jeffrey of Howell; a sister, Carmela Colangelo of Brick; and two granddaughters, Grace and Sophia Jeffrey. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Jackson, followed by interment at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood. Mrs. Casey, 65, of Keansburg, died Feb. 16, 2007, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in New York City, she resided in Newark and the Lawrence Harbor section of Old Bridge prior to relocating to Keans-burg 22 years sago. Mrs. Casey was a matron at the Old Bridge Board of Education. She was predeceased by a brother, John Bingold. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Joanne Casey of Algonquin, Ill., Donald and Virginia Casey of Jackson, and Michael and Melinda Casey of Aberdeen; two daughters and one son-in-law, Irene and William Jackson of Lawrence Harbor, and Patricia Casey of Sayreville; her companion, Marilyn Gunia; a brother, Richard Bingold of Vermont; her former husband, John H. Casey of Lawrence Harbor; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport. Anthony R. Civitello
Anthony R. Civitello, 48, of Jackson, died Feb. 18, 2007, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Old Bridge before moving to Jackson 10 years ago. Mr. Civitello worked for Schweitzer-Mauduit, Spotswood, for 23 years. He is survived by his wife, Costanza Civitello of Jackson; two daughters, Nancy and Tina Civitello of Jackson; a brother, Louis J. Civitello of Old Bridge; and four sisters, Jo Anne Perschilli of Old Bridge, Lisa Cesare of Sayreville, Karen Civitello of Bayville and Susan Civitello of Edison. Services were held at the Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Interment was at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick. Cecilia Burdge, 82, of Howell, died Feb. 22, 2007, at home. Born in Freehold Township, she had lived in the Cassville section of Jack-son before moving to Howell in 1949. Mrs. Burdge was a homemaker. She also worked as a saleswoman for McCrory's department store, Freehold, for several years. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, George A. Burdge; a son and daughter-in-law, George A. Jr. and Robin Burdge of Freehold; a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and John Kalinauskas of Manalapan; two brothers, William Edgar Jr. of Jackson and George Edgar of Maryland; five sisters, Matilda Webber of Lakewood, Frances Mott of Jackson, Naomi Kennett of Jackson, Geneva Kovacofsky of Lakewood and Phoebe Crammer of New Egypt; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Ser-vices were held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale. Mr. Pardun, 81, of Princeton, formerly of Milltown and North Brunswick, died Feb. 13, 2007, in University Medical Center at Prince-ton. He was a co-owner at Deer Brook Village, North Brunswick, and previously owned C.J. Pardun and Sons Construction, North Bruns-wick. He was a president of University Savings Bank, North Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Diane Murphy Pardun; six children, William, and his wife, Janice, Chester III ("C.J"), and his wife, Dorena, Jeffrey and Laura, all of North Brunswick, Brett of Jackson and Joanne of Princeton; a brother, George of Hobe Sound, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services were held at Crabiel Home for Funerals, Milltown. Entombment was in Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick. Mr. Charland, 84, of Manalapan, died Feb. 22, 2007, at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived in Edison before moving to Manalapan 37 years ago. He served in the U.S. National Guard, the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Charland was predeceased by his wife, Patricia, in 2004, as well as a daughter, Joan West, and a grandson, Christopher. He is survived by a son, Joseph Charland Jr. of Manalapan; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Patricia and Ronald Sereno and Linda and John Hye, all of Manal-apan, Fran Charland of Howell, and Denise and Tony Menza of Englishtown; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Lester W. "Luke" Maghan, 81, of Howell, died Feb. 22, 2007, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Colts Neck, he was a longtime resident of Howell. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Maghan is survived by his wife, Betty Jane White Maghan; four daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Paul Kelly of Beach Haven, Joyce Maghan and her husband Lucian Hamm of Fayetteville, Ga., Joann and Kenny Price of Freehold Township, and Jacki and Frank Cogar of Oakhurst; two brothers, Joseph Maghan of Howell and James Maghan of Fort Pierce, Fla; a sister, Betty Textor of Wall Township; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Deus, 35, of Jackson, died Feb. 26, 2007, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Edison, she resided in Middletown prior to relocating to Jackson seven years ago. She was a zookeeper at Popcorn Park Zoo, Lacey, for 13 years. She is survived by her husband, John Deus; her parents Kelley and Joyce Brennan of Middletown; and her maternal grandmother, Anne Holt of Trenton. Arrangements were by John F. Veronica Godsil Cinelli Mrs. Cinelli, 65, of Keyport, died Feb. 13, 2007, at Care One in Holmdel. She was born in Jersey City. She was a receptionist at Buhler Chrysler, Hazlet, for 16 years. She was predeceased by a niece, Krystine Bordenabe. Mrs. Cinelli is survived by her husband of 45 years, Prisco Cinelli; a daughter and son-in-law, Erinn and Christopher Hogrefe of Keyport; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James and Lori Cinelli of Howell, and Kyle Cinelli of Keyport; a brother, William Godsil; and five grandchildren. Mrs. Bailey, 66, of Farmingdale, died Feb. 7, 2007, at home. She was born in Princeton and had resided in Freehold for most of her life. Prior to retiring, she was a packer for the Brockway Glass Co., Freehold Township. She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Raymond Bailey Jr., in 1993. Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael R. and Michele Bailey of Jackson, David D. Bailey, at home, and Steven C. and Gina Bailey of Shark River Hills; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Marino, 79, of Howell, died Feb. 9, 2007, at home. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and had lived there before moving to Howell in 1988. Prior to retiring in 1985, she was a secretary for Citibank, New York City, for 26 years. She was a parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township. Mrs. Marino was predeceased in 2005 by her husband, Patsy Marino, and in 2001 by a grandson, Paul Gubitosi, as well as two brothers and four sisters. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Lori Marino of Manalapan, and Anthony and Caroline Marino of Weaverville, N.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Agnes and Guy Gubitosi of Hillsborough; a sister, Hester Masiello of Reading, Pa.; and seven grandchildren. Gloria Sharp Mrs. Sharp, 75, of Manchester Township, died Feb. 26, 2007, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. She was born in Rumson and had lived in Long Branch before moving to Manchester 18 years ago. Prior to retiring in 1990, Mrs. Sharp was a sales associate at Sears, Ocean Township, for 20 years. She was predeceased in 1996 by her husband, Jack Sharp, and in 2000 by her longtime companion, Lou Mayer. Surviving are a son, Ronald Sharp of Florida; four daughters, Debra Sharp of Avon-by-the-Sea, Brenda Ward of Florida, Patricia Sharp of Ocean Gate and Linda Potter of the New Egypt section of Plumsted; a sister, Grace Peterson of Belmar; a brother, William McGirr of California; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hobbely, 78, of Freehold, died Feb. 11, 2007, at Bartley Healthcare Nursing and Rehabilitation, Jackson. She was born to Ruth Ann and Howard Conover on Oct. 14, 1928, in the Millhurst section of Manalapan. A lifelong resident of Manalapan, she was known throughout the Freehold community. She attended grade school in Millhurst and attended Freehold High School, Freehold Borough, as well. Prior to retiring, she was employed by the Solomon Box Co., Matawan. She was a communicant of the St. James A.M.E. Church in the Woodsville section of Manalapan and was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star. Her hobbies included fishing, swimming and playing bingo. Mrs. Hobbely helped rear several of her younger siblings along with her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Oscar Hobbely, in 1994. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, William Robinson of Pennsylvania, and George F. and Susan Robinson of Minneapolis; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Donald Conover of Indianapolis, Joseph Conover of Asbury Park, and David and Rose Conover of Lakewood; a brother-in-law, Ralph Wilson of Asbury Park; and three sisters-in-law, Sylvia Mitchell and Arcia Hobdy, both of Chicago, and Otharene Conover of Panama City, Fla.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives. Funeral services were held at Bethel A.M.E. Church, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Higgins Memorial Home, Free-hold, was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Cromer, 73, of Freehold Township, died Feb. 26, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Long Branch, he had resided in Colts Neck before moving to Freehold Township in 1967. Prior to retiring 17 years ago, he was a machine operator for Circuit Foil USA, Bordentown. He was also a former member of Colts Neck Fire Company No. 1. Mr. Cromer's brother, Gerald D. Cromer, died on Feb. 27. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Emmons Cromer; six sons and three daughters-in-law, Charles Cromer Jr., William Cromer, Donald and Dawn Cromer, and James and Debra Cromer, all of Jackson, John Cromer of Camden, and Robert and Christine Cromer of the Morganville section of Marlboro; two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara and Greg Ilaria of Manasquan, and Susan Jaiyeola of Freehold; 22 grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Funeral services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan.
