Obituaries Anthony Dos Santos
Anthony Dos Santos Sr., 73, of Toms River, died Feb. 28, 2007, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Bordeaux, France, he had lived in Marlboro for 40 years. Prior to retiring in 1996, Mr. Dos Santos was a supervisor in the HVAC department at St. Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick, for 23 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Korea. Surviving are his wife, Olivia; three sons, Christopher Dos Santos of Wall Township, Anthony Dos Santos Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Manuel Dos Santos of Howell; three daughters, Mary Racz and Delfina Jensen, of Howell, and Gloria Kniesler of Freehold; a brother, Claud Dos Santos of Bordeaux; four sisters, Mary Armeson and Anna Artigua, of Bordeaux, and Adeline Bernardo and Irene DuPont, of Wantague; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Freehold Township, followed by interment in Princeton Memorial Park, Robbins-ville. Mrs. Sappah, 82, of Keyport, died Feb. 28, 2007, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Keyport, she was a lifelong resident. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Union Beach First Aid Squad. She was predeceased by her husband, George C. Sappah Jr. in 2003. She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and John Kennedy of Keyport; Nancy and Richard Maag of River Bank, Calif.; Patricia and Steven Witt of Modesto, Calif.; and Mary and Lee Gashlin of Bayville; two sons and one daughter-in-law, George and Eleanor Sappah of Keyport, and John Sappah of Maplewood, Minn.; two brothers, Melvin Layton of Florida, and Earl Layton of Lakewood; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Horton, 68, of Freehold Township, died March 1, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in Freehold and was a lifelong resident. Prior to retiring in 1993, she was employed by the Freehold Savings and Loan Association for 25 years as an assistant secretary in the mortgage department. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. Mrs. Horton was predeceased by her parents, Charles L. and Helen Baggitt Mount, as well as a brother, Richard L. Mount, in 1999. She is survived by her husband, John J. Horton; three brothers, Charles W. Mount and Kenneth J. Mount, both of Freehold, and Joseph D. Mount of Vermont; a sister, Dorothy Ann Norman of Howell; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Andreev, 82, of Howell, died March 2, 2007, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, she came to the United States in 1952, arriving in New York. She lived in Philadelphia before settling in Howell in 1957. Mrs. Andreev was a homemaker and a member of the Rashi Lhunpo Buddhist Temple, Howell. She was predeceased by her husband, David; a son, Roschin; a daughter, Lidjima Young; and a sister, Vera Djambinov. Surviving are three sons and a daughter-in-law, Pawel Andreev of Redwood City, Calif., Velo and Catherine Andreev of Neptune City, and Baljer "Barry" Andreev of Ocean Township; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Naran Laneve of San Francisco, Ulanki Arbakow of Howell, Nadja Andreev and Michael Torres of Avon, Sandjerma and Anthony Francis of Forest Hills, N.Y., Sara Rugo of Neptune, and Thomas Young; two brothers, Alexey Ivanchukov of Arlington, Va., and Naran Ivanchukov of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; a sister, Galina Balsirow of Howell; seven grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. Margaret Newton, 86, of Burlington Township., died March 5, 2007 at Marcella Center, Burlington Township. Born in Howell, she had lived in Shaftsbury, Vt., before moving to Lakewood in 1994. She was a graduate of Rider University, Lawrence. She was predeceased by her husband, James A. Newton Jr., in 1991. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, James A. Newton III and his wife Valerie of Hamilton; a sister, Ellen Allaire of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Clayton and McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, followed by interment in Van Liew Cemetery, North Brunswick. Joan Conk
Joan Conk, 69, of Freehold Township, died March 5, 2007, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Lakewood, she lived in Jackson before moving to Freehold Township in 1958. Mrs. Conk was a homemaker. Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Howard Conk of Freehold Township; four sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Eileen Conk of Jackson; Edwin and Kim Conk of Toms River; John and Frances Conk of Farmingdale; and Anthony and Denise Conk of Toms River; a daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Russ Clark of Jackson; a sister, Alberta Tonkin of Parkertown; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Triana, 66, of Long Branch, died March 3, 2007, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Colombia, she immigrated to the United States in 1963, and resided in Queens, N.Y., and Elizabeth, prior to relocating to the Monmouth County area. She was a bookkeeper at Steak Frites, New York City, for 15 years, retiring two years ago. She is survived by two sons, Michael Munoz of Moorestown, and James Munoz of Zurich, Switzerland; a daughter, Vicky Florez of Howell; her mother, Isabel Perez of Elizabeth; two brothers; two sisters; and six grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Ms. Berry, 66, of Jackson, died March 7, 2007, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in New York City, she had resided in Queens, N.Y., and Orlando, Fla., for 22 years before moving to Jackson one year ago. She is survived by four sons, Louis Rios and Steven Rios, both of Jackson, Cedric Rios of Old Bridge and Albert Betancourt of New York City; and two daughters, Yvonne Kercado of Freehold and Karen Hernandez of Jackson. She was also a grandmother and great-grandmother. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. Interment was private. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
