In the Service Richard J. Lewis has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Additionally, Lewis has been decorated with the Meri-torious Service Medal. The medal is awarded to members of the U.S. Armed Forces who distinguish themselves by outstanding achievement or meritorious service to the United States in noncombat situations. Lewis is the chief of personnel services in the 514th Aeromedical Staging Squadron at McGuire Air Force Base, Wrightstown. The colonel has served in the military for eight years. He is the son of Richard J. Lewis of McConnellsville, N.Y., and the late Eleanor O'Neill. His wife, Pamela, is the daughter of Patricia L. Williamson of Lakewood. In 1986, Lewis earned a doctor of osteopathy degree from New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine, Stratford. The colonel is an obstetrician-gynecologist physician in private practice in Ocean.
Army Spec. Dennis M. Halleran has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewmen. He is the son of Linda Halleran of Howell. Halleran is a 2002 graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft, and received a bachelor's degree in 2006 from Villa-nova University, Villanova, Pa.
