School positions consolidated
BY MARK ROSMAN
Staff Writer

HOWELL - There will be a familiar face joining the Howell school district's central services office beginning in September.

Ron Sanasac, who is a former president of the Howell Board of Education, will join the department that is headed by Business Administrator-Board Secre-tary Herbert Massa.

After leaving the school board several years ago, Sanasac went to work for the school district. At the present time he is the deputy director of buildings and grounds. In that position Sanasac is paid $77,128.

According to the 2007-08 budget proposed by the board, Sanasac will be paid $80,406 in 2007-08. A spokeswoman for the school district said Sanasac's new job title will be assistant board secretary.

According to the spokeswoman, the job title and list of responsibilities within the central services offices have been changed in an effort to save money by eliminating positions.

The following positions have been eliminated: assistant to the board secretary, assistant buildings and grounds director, maintenance foreman and communications manager.

Sanasac will replace Gayle Levy, who is presently the assistant to the board secretary. Levy, who has worked in the Howell school district for 16 years, is retiring in June. She is presently being paid $71,440.

According to the spokeswoman, Sanasac's additional responsibilities will include office manager, purchasing, construction and security. Those responsibilities are not part of job presently held by Levy.

Sanasac has experience in finance, accounting, construction and emergency management, and is a former member and president of the Howell school board, according to the administration.
