Lakewood Hall of Fame to induct 14 athletes, two teams

LAKEWOOD - Fourteen people and the 1936 Lakewood High School football, basketball and baseball teams will be inducted into the Lakewood High School Athletic Hall of Fame at a luncheon Sunday, April 22, at the Woodlake Country Club.

This is the first time the association has honored an entire team at the third annual honors program, association President Ed Brandt said.

The 1936 football Piners, coached by Russ Wright, posted a 9-0 record.

More than 200 families and friends of the inductees are expected to attend. The program emcee will be Jan Kristbergs.

The selections were made by the Hall of Fame Committee from more than 30 nominees.

Tickets are $30 per person and can be obtained by contacting Pat Halpin at (732) 905-3537, or Ed Brandt at (732) 363-4841. E-mails can be sent to phalpin@piners.org.
