Godown charges from 15th, dominates NES Egypt Mods NEW EGYPT - Ryan Godown of Ringoes started deep in the pack Saturday at New Egypt Speedway, but that didn't stop him from winning his first Modified feature of 2007. The 30-lap "Go Green" event, sponsored by Pleasantview Landscaping, saw Godown dominate the event as he charged from his 15th starting position to the lead in just eight laps. From there it was all Godown as he ran away and hid from the competition, winning the 11th feature of his career. Pole-sitter Mike McAleer grabbed the lead at the start, chased by Ron John Koczon, Tim Tanner Jr. and Rich Rutski. Godown and 10th-starting Frank Cozze were charging up through the field together with the two bolting to the front by lap eight. It became quickly evident that Ryan Godown had everyone covered on this night as he pulled away from the field with ease. Cozze and McAleer valiantly chased after Godown until lap 21, when both saw their night come to an end as McAleer blew his motor to bring out the caution and Cozze broke on the ensuing restart. Godown's brother Brian picked up the chase over the final nine laps but could only watch Ryan pull away. At the finish it was Ryan grabbing the $3,000 first prize by more than half of a straight-away over brother Brian Godown. Keith Hoffman came on late in the event to take third for the second straight week, followed by Matt Sheppard and Tanner Jr. Ken Carberry of Fairless Hills, Pa., took the 20-lap SS Sprint feature in his first event. Carberry set the fast time and went wire to wire for his first career victory. Kevin Nagy came home second, with Rich Janney in third, David Martin crossing the line fourth and Ian Borden fifth. In the second race of the Advantage Financial/Cradle Rock Developers Rookie Sportsman series, Bobby Butler, of Milford, came from the last row to post his first win. Dan Waisempacher held on for second over Jeff Marcucci, Joe Systo and Joe Baumann. The night's Sportsman and Super Stock 20-lap feature events were postponed when rain moved in at the conclusion of the Modified feature. These two features will be made up next Saturday night as part of C&S Equipment's Grand Slam Little League Night. This Saturday night it will be Grand Slam Little League Night sponsored by C&S Equipment. All Little Leaguers 12 and under who are in uniform will be admitted free. There will be plenty of action on the track as big-block Modifieds, Sportsman, Super Stocks and the Advantage Financial/Cradle Rock Developers Rookies will be in competition. In addition, there will be two extra feature events as the Super Stocks and Sportsman will make up their rained-out features from last week.
