Community Bulletin Board Nominees sought for Jackson Hall of Fame

The Jackson Alumni Hall of Fame trustees are seeking nominees for the Jackson Memorial High School Alumni Hall of Fame. Those selected will be honored at an induction ceremony in October.

Nominees should have attended school in Jackson at some point in their life and have made a significant contribution to mankind and/or their community. There is a separate category for honorary members who have made outstanding contributions to Jackson.

The trustees also award scholarships to deserving graduates who have a keen interest in their community and help to make Jackson a better place.

Nomination forms are available by contacting any member of the 2007 Alumni Hall of Fame trustees: Larry St. Laurent, co-chairman, Stephen W. Jam-ison, co-chairman, Bernie Reider, treasurer, Arleen Polito, secretary, William Fox, Debra Hart, Laura Johnson, Regina Johnson, Robert Paneque, John Smatusik and George White. Defensive driving class offered in Lakewood

Lakewood Community School, in cooperation with American Drivers Safety Council, is sponsoring a Defensive Driving Two-Point Reduction Class from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 29. The class will be held at the Best Western Hotel, 1600 Route 70, Lakewood. The fee to attend the class is $40.

This six-hour course can save students 5 percent on their auto insurance policy for three years and/or reduce two points on their driving records. Included in this class are the textbook, film viewing, and processing of all paperwork to the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission. Other available Sunday classes will be held May 6 and May 20. Computer sampler class offered in Lakewood

Registration is in progress for the computer sampler class offered by the Lakewood Community School Program. The three-week course will be held at Lakewood High School, 855 Somerset Ave., 7-9 p.m. beginning May 8 and will cover one week each of the following: Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher. Jackson church to host bluegrass concert

A bluegrass concert featuring Past Times will be held at 6 p.m. April 28 at the DeBows United Methodist Church, corner of Route 571 and Route 537, Jackson.

"The event will help to sponsor the youth mission trip to Virginia this summer," said Betty Gibbons, pastor. "The youth will be repairing the homes of the elderly, disabled and poor."
