Summer camp activities set

JACKSON - Fliers announcing registration dates for Jackson's summer camp program will soon be distributed throughout the school system. This program, with a history of more than 30 years, offers supervised activities for resident children who have completed kindergarten through eighth grade. Last year camp hours were increased from four to six during which children are bused to a host of age-appropriate activities or take part in any number of planned on-site events.

A new addition to the program this year is theater camp, available to children completing grades three through eight. This portion of camp will introduce participants to all aspects of theater arts, singing, dancing, lines, staging, sets, and more. The summer camp will conclude with a performance.

Professionals David Pacheco and Kye Garner, each with years of experience in music and dance, will plan, direct and produce the production. The fee for this new portion of the summer camp program is $60.

Registration for theater camp is limited to 60 children. Children must be registered at either Crawford-Rodriquez or Johnson elementary schools. Registration will be taken on a first come-first served basis.

Another new program that is not part of the camp program offered by the township is a mini-camp for preschoolers. The program is open to resident children ages three-and-a-half through 6. Offered at Rosenauer Elementary School on Mondays for six weeks, children will experience hands-on science projects provided by Mad Science. Registration is limited to 60 children and the fee is $36.
