Hearing on new homes rescheduled

JACKSON - For the second time in three months the Planning Board did not have time at its meeting to begin hearing testimony on an application that proposes the construction of more than 2,500 homes.

Testimony on Jackson Mews, a multi-family housing development of 2,531 units, was initially scheduled to begin on Feb. 5. The application was not heard that evening and was moved to April 16.

Due to a lack of time on April 16, the application was once again postponed. Attorney Ray Shea, representing the applicant, Leigh Realty, of Brick Township, agreed to a new date, July 16.

With an 11 p.m. curfew for its meeting, Chairman Kenneth Bressi said at 10:35 p.m. that the Jackson Mews representatives deserved more than 25 minutes to begin presenting their information.

Shea said he has seven witnesses who will present testimony relating to Jackson Mews. He indicated that a sufficient amount of time will be needed to hear all of their testimony.

No testimony on Jackson Mews was offered on April 16 by the applicant's professionals or by members of the public.

It was agreed that Jackson Mews will begin its presentation on July 16.

Jackson Mews is proposed to be constructed on West Commodore Boulevard (Route 526), bordered by Freehold Road (Route 638), Leesville Road and Cedar Swamp Road (Route 527). West Fish Road will run through the project from northwest to southeast.

The proposed development site is 610 acres. The applicant expects to construct 2,531 units over 15 years in seven phases. The maximum number of units per building will be 12.
