Mayor needs to act in best interests of entire community It's understandable when Jackson's mayor, Mark Seda, said it's a tough decision about his recent cost cutting. I applaud the effort. But why did he seek and receive his own raise, then order major cutbacks and layoffs? Why not set an example starting with himself? Was his 300 percent raise so desperately needed, as well as his administrator's hefty raise with cutbacks in sight? What I am truly disappointed about as well as angered is that our mayor did not have the respect for upset Jackson residents to attend one Planning Board meeting (Jackson Valley project) that was so opposed by Jackson residents. This included possible eminent domain issues as well. He did have his "eye and ears" in one Planning Board member who, I might add, never asked or inquired about anything for the entire six-month procedure. He did jump at the opportunity to second a motion to approve (sounding more and more like a predetermined agenda of our new government with many more new projects in the wings). There isn't much professionalism being shown with the constant bashing of the "prior administration" for any public questioning to his actions thus far. He seems to be the first to pat himself on the back for anything that sounds positive to the public. No "prior administration" remarks about any positivity. Well at least he's asking to "put the past behind us." Is he now saying this after hearing the public anger and newfound knowledge of him and his agendas? Nevertheless, it's time he puts his personal battles with other parties and own agendas aside or his tenure will be a cinch to be a "one and done." What we desperately need are individuals who really want to accommodate all (Republican, Democrats, independents) and truly do what's best for all 55,000 residents. Plus, maybe a little better reciprocation by the public, instead of just seeing through "my party, your party" blinders. Results aside, this town and people of all parties should wake up and put personal battles and differences aside and make a true effort to do what's best for this town. If that's not the case, then let the voting public show their power by voting these people out! Here's to a better effort by all. No excuses, no finger pointing, just the guts and effort to do what's right.
