Sports camp comes to Jackson

JACKSON - The Jackson Depart-ment of Recreation and Senior Services and the U.S. Sports Institute will offer a multi-sport camp in Jackson this summer.

Eric Schubiger, director of recreation and senior services, said the U.S. Sports Institute provides summer camps for boys and girls age 5 to 14 with all kinds of abilities. Parents will be able to their children a chance to experience 15 sports from around the world.

Children can learn how to bowl a cricket ball, score a try in rugby, shoot hoops and score plenty of goals in a variety of sports, Schubiger said.

"All activities and games take place in a positive, low-pressure educational environment under the guidance of our qualified coaches, who are chosen for their ability to inspire, motivate and encourage campers," he said. "Children can expect a fun-packed week in which they will not only further develop their sporting capabilities, but develop the interpersonal and teamwork qualities that come with it."

The program will be held from Aug. 27-31 at Johnson Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for children who are 7-14 years old and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for children who are 5-7 years old.

To register, contact the Jackson Department of Recreation and Senior Services at (732) 928-1200, ext. 255.
