Foundation plans fashion show
BY DAVE BENJAMIN
Staff Writer

JACKSON - A fashion show and luncheon to enhance educational programs and activities for all of the schools in Jackson is being planned.

"The Jackson Educational Foundation is sponsoring its first Fashion Show Luncheon at the Outback Steakhouse, 2770 Hooper Avenue, Brick, on June 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.," said Theresa Licitra, chairwoman and assistant principal at the Elms Elementary School.

Tickets for the event are on sale and may be obtained by calling (732) 833-4735. Tickets are $27 per person and will include an appetizer, main course, dessert, soft drink, fashion show and five tickets for the gift auction.

Business and corporate sponsors will provide baskets for a gift auction and a silent auction. Door prizes will also be presented, said foundation President Martin Spielman.

"We're looking forward to it as a fundraiser," he said. "We have models who are teachers, students and parents from the school district."

Coordinating the event are JEF founders Suzanne Zoni, Dana Citron, Dawn Malinowski, Kathy Sheehan, Michael Kafton, Josie Vega, Martin Spielman, Barbara Spielman and Theresa Licitra.

Several prominent members of the Jackson community will be volunteering their time to model the clothing lines at the fashion show, Licitra said.

Fashion show sponsors include David's Bridal of Freehold, New York Trends of Red Bank, MTI Sports Apparel and the White Butterfly.

Businesses such as Seasonal World of Howell and Cream Ridge, Hans Maxems Salon and Day Spa, the Jackson Premium Outlets, Zales jewelers, Century 21 Action Plus, Commerce Bank, ShopRite and the Metedeconk National Golf Club are some of the firms who are supporting the initiatives of the foundation.

"We're just trying to raise money to give back to the children, as we did at the last major fundraiser where we purchased [interactive whiteboards] for all of the elementary schools," Spielman said.

The interactive whiteboards provide opportunities for learners to engage in state-of-the-art technological implementation and learning, Licitra said.

The community is invited to be part of the foundation and to support its educational initiatives which benefit all Jackson students, she added.
