The Edison Arts Society will present the opening of its statewide juried exhibit, "Art Without Borders," June 24 from 3-5 p.m. at the Sheraton Edison Hotel at Raritan Center, 125 Raritan Center Parkway in Edison. Twenty-six artists from New Jersey will have their works on exhibit through October. Local artists whose work will be featured include Emilia Misiura, East Brunswick; Darlene Foster, Plainfield; Lois Nagy-Hartnack, Fords; Marion Derrett, Scotch Plains; Nelson Bachman Jr., North Brunswick; Courtney Dyer, Franklin Park; Lois Wilkes, Middletown; Mary Ellen Brennan and Walter Marz, Monroe; Paul Lenz, Colts Neck; Robert Hopkins, Yimeng Ling and Sandy Mezinis, Metuchen; and Peter Arakawa, Harriet Charatan, Vandana Chavan, Kimberly Frey, Rita Herzfeld, Thelma Portnoff, Patricia Rubin, Christiane Silla, Ray Skibinski and Patricia Woods, all of Edison. This summer the Premier Theatre Company will celebrate its 22nd season of live entertainment at the Henderson Theater, 850 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft. The season will kick off with the 1960s classic "West Side Story," running June 15 through July 1, followed by "The Music Man" July 13-29.

Performances will be staged Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

Ticket prices are $26 for adults, $24 for seniors, $16 for students with valid identification, and $13 for children ages 13 and under. Season subscriptions are also available.

The next regular meeting of the Monmouth Creative Writers Group will take place 7-9 June 17 at the main branch of the Monmouth County Library, Symmes Drive, Manalapan. The group is a peer-operated workshop for all interested writers of any level of proficiency who live in the area. It is not a school environment, but an adult professional development forum. There are no fees, no homework assignments and no grades given.

"A Brush With Art," an exhibit of the work of artists from Susan Winter's class held at Freehold Township Senior Center, is currently on display at Brookdale Community College's Western Monmouth Campus, 3680 Route 9 south, Freehold Township (behind the Bank of America building), through June 28. Jane DeTullio, of the Monmouth University Writing Center, will address the group at this meeting as a featured guest. Areas of common interest will be discussed.

The meeting is open to members of the public who have a basic interest in the craft of creative writing. The summer will bring hot jazz back to Ocean County College when MidWeek Jazz returns on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center, Main Campus, College Drive, Toms River. MidWeek Jazz brings acclaimed artists playing classic jazz to the Jersey Shore.

"Boogie Bob" Seeley makes a rare East Coast visit on June 20. Seeley is acclaimed around the world as the greatest Boogie Woogie player traveling to Europe, where he is popular with young people. His concerts are sprinkled with stride, blues and even a bit of ragtime to change the pace.

Robbie Scott's New Deal Orchestra takes the stage July 11. This premier jazz and swing band possesses both tight arrangements and accomplished musicians. The orchestra has played the White House, Tavern on the Green, and other New York City night spots.

Dan Levinson's Palomar Quartet Returns on Aug. 22 with a tribute to Benny Goodman and the swing era. Clarinetist Dan Levinson captures the Goodman sound and has led sellout tributes in Manhattan and many cities in Europe.
