Scholarship fund is committed to helping Jackson students

The Jackson Township High School Scholarship Fund Inc. has been serving Jackson's graduating seniors for decades. The fund is a 501 (c)(3) entity that raises money for scholarships and administers scholarships for others.

Currently, the fund only provides scholarships for Jackson Memorial High School seniors, but with the creation of Jackson Liberty High School, the fund expects to provide scholarships for both high schools in 2009 when Jackson Liberty has its first senior class.

The success of our program can be measured only against the generosity of our business community, Jackson organizations, alumni, teachers and staff. This year our annual ad journal raised approximately $7,500, which resulted in nearly 18 scholarships.

Beyond contributing to our ad journal, many business and community organizations participate in Scholarship Night by awarding their own scholarships, generally between $300 and $500. In addition, the fund encourages the creation of memorial scholarships as a way of remembering lost loved ones. The fund is prepared to assist you with the creation of a scholarship virtually at any time during the year.

We can be reached at Jackson Township High School Scholarship Fund Inc., P.O. Box 910, Jackson 08527 or you can reach us on the web at www.geocities.com/jthssf/JACKSONHIGHSCHOOLFUNDPAGE.

No matter how many scholarship nights I attend, I remain in awe of Jackson's generosity, the dedication of our faculty and staff, the dedication of our members and the brilliance of Jackson's youth.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped make Scholar-ship Night a continued success. A special thanks to Supervisor of Guidance Ms. Wheaton and her staff for their good nature, executive skillfulness and cooperation with the fund.

From the school district in particular, I need to thank Mr. Taylor for his steadfast assistance with the creation of the ad journal. I would also like to thank the school board and Mr. Gialanella, together with all of our faculty and administration. As for the fund committee itself, I cannot express my gratitude sufficiently to our team of volunteers. The fund's mission could not be met without you.

To the public, I ask that you and your business or organization consider giving a scholarship or taking an advertisement in the 2008 ad journal. We will eventually be looking to turn the reigns over to a new generation, so be ready. Finally, we need to assure that by 2009 both high schools have the scholarships our graduating seniors deserve. Remember, the beneficiaries of these scholarships are Jackson's graduating seniors who reflect the promise and pride of America.
