Obituaries Nancy M. Kelly Parker-Morgan Mrs. Parker-Morgan, 51, of Middletown, died May 25, 2007, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Newark, he resided in Laurence Harbor for 10 years before relocating to Middletown six years ago. She was a waitress at Cornucopia Diner, Keyport, the past 20 years, and was also a dental assistant at the office of William A. Orlacchio, D.D.S., Hazlet. Mrs. Parker-Morgan was predeceased by her father, Joseph Kelly. She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Joyce and Dick Davis Swartz of Moscow, Pa.; her husband, Jack Morgan; a son, Arthur Parker of Middletown; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Jim Bartucci of Keansburg; a sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Bruce Hoelz of Jackson; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Marie Kelly of Toms River; and two grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Entombment followed at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Donald Davis Mr. Davis, 55, of Lakewood, died June 10, 2007, at home. Born in Neptune, he had resided in Freehold before moving to Lakewood in 1972. He worked for the past 32 years as a pipefitter and plumber for Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union No. 9, Englishtown. Surviving are his wife, Gloria; a son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Amy Davis of South Toms River; three brothers, John Davis of Newark, and William and Arthur Davis, both of Asbury Park; a sister, Ophelia Davis of Neptune; two grandchildren; seven nieces; and four nephews. A funeral service was held at Bethel A.M.E. Church, Freehold, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
Mary L. Davis Mrs. Davis, 66, of Freehold Township, died June 11, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Perth Amboy, she had lived in Howell before moving to Freehold Township 12 years ago. Surviving are her husband, Ronald C. Davis Sr.; a son, Ronald C. Davis Jr. of Florida; four daughters, Donna DeFilippo of Lakewood, Dawn Reynolds of Howell, and Deborah Arcoleo and Denise Jones, both of Freehold Township; a brother, John "Sonny" Erdek; five sisters, Gloria Mazur, Grace Belko, Barbara Novak, Madeline Thompson and Dorothy Kosh; and 13 grandchildren. The Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, was in charge of arrangements.
James P. McDonagh Mr. McDonagh, 60, of Howell, died June 11, 2007, at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he had resided in Palisades Park before moving to Howell 13 years ago. He was an electrician for the Petrocelli Electric Co. at the United Nations, New York City, for 38 years. Mr. McDonagh was a communicant of St. Veronica's Roman Catholic Church, Howell. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Charlene Westphal McDonagh; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James P. Jr. and Denise McDonagh of Teaneck, and Michael C. McDonagh of Howell; a daughter, Ann Grace McDonagh of Howell; two brothers, John and Michael McDonagh; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Mary and Thomas Moore, Kathleen and Peter Fimbel, Eileen and Jack Fritzky, and Bridget McDonagh; a sister-in-law, Susan Kirby; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Joanne Westphal; a grandson, James J. McDonagh; many nieces and nephews; and his close friend and golf partner, Alan Purcell. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Veronica's Church. Anthony Grosso Mr. Grosso, 85, of Howell, died June 4, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Paterno, Italy, he had lived in Hazelton, Pa., and Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Howell in 1999. He wintered in St. Petersburg, Fla., for the past 28 years. Mr. Grosso worked in the bookkeeping department of Mergenthaler Linotype Co., Brooklyn, for over 30 years, retiring in 1976. He and several other family members owned the Winchelsea Hotel, Palenville, N.Y. He was a parishioner and Eucharistic minister at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Farmingdale. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of Harbor Lights Club, St. Petersburg, Fla. Mr. Grosso was predeceased by two brothers, a sister, and a granddaughter. He is survived by his wife, Giovannina "Jennie" Gross of Howell; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Louis and Judy Gross of Staten Island, N.Y., Joseph and Zulema Gross of Queens, N.Y., and Anthony Grosso of Freehold; a daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and George Licitra of Jackson; and 10 grandchildren. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Catherine of Siena Church, followed by entombment in St. Charles Cemetery Mausoleum, Pinelawn, N.Y. The Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, was in charge or arrangements.
Mary F. Karmel Mrs. Karmel, 76, of Old Bridge, died May 9, 2007, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to her retirement in 1973, she was employed for 10 years as a lunch aide at Grissom Elementary School, Old Bridge. Her husband, Robert J., died in 2001. Surviving are a son, Robert E. of Old Bridge; two daughters, Nancy J. Pielli of Jackson and Susan M. Galazin of Old Bridge; a brother, Arthur Englert of Holtsville, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. A Mass was offered at St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.
Mary N. DeVita Miss DeVita, 92, of Howell, died June 7, 2007, at Chapin Hill at Red Bank. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived there before moving to The Villages, Howell, in 1972. Prior to retiring in 1980, Miss DeVita was a seamstress who made original designer fashions for Jones New York, New York City. Miss DeVita was a parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township. She belonged to the AARP and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers' Union, New York City. She was also a member of the Howell Senior Friendship Club and the Howell chapter of the Deborah Hospital Foundation, as well as her community's senior social club and theater group. Miss DeVita was predeceased in 1999 by a sister, Lena. Surviving are two brothers, Vincent S. DeVita of Howell and Nicholas DeVita of Cave Creek, Ariz.; eight nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Catherine "Kaye" Hedenus DeZao Mrs. DeZao, 79, of Old Bridge, died May 18, 2007, at home. Surviving are her husband, Joseph DeZao Jr.; a son, Joseph DeZao III of the New Egypt section of Plumsted; four daughters, Michele Mazzeo, and her husband, Christopher, of Manalapan, Lorraine Moricco of Old Bridge, Denise Hermans, and her husband, Albert, of the Morganville section of Marlboro, and Kathleen Shapter of Lewes, Del.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
