BY DAVE BENJAMIN
Staff Writer

Phil Del Turco
JACKSON - A former acting administrator in Jackson has been hired as the town's new business administrator.

Municipal officials recently announced the hiring of Phil Del Turco to replace William Santos, who resigned as Jackson's business administrator to accept a new position elsewhere.

Del Turco's hiring will be effective June 30. Mayor Mark Seda said interviews for the position were held on June 8. The mayor said he and Township Council President Angelo Stallone, council Vice President Ann Updegrave and Santos conducted the interviews.

Seda said Del Turco "is a longtime chief financial officer (CFO) with a great background."

Santos agreed and said that in 1994 when he was the township administrator for the first time he hired Del Turco as Jackson's CFO.

"He has a good accounting background and I would certainly feel very confident having him," Santos said.

Seda said the salary range for Jackson's business administrator is between $95,500 and $146,666. Del Turco will receive a salary of $132,514 and will also be entitled to the same benefits afforded all department directors at this time.

In a letter to the mayor, Del Turco said he had previously served Jackson for nearly seven years as its CFO along with service as the acting administrator.

"My background includes municipal revenue enhancements, while also implementing cost savings programs," he wrote.

Del Turco holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration and accounting. He is a certified municipal finance officer and an enrolled agent to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. Del Turco is a licensed public accountant, a qualified purchasing agent, a provisional school business administrator and a notary public.

Del Turco will leave his position as the treasurer and CFO of Berkeley Township to come to Jackson.

He was the CFO of Hamilton Township from 2005-07; the director of finance and CFO in Manalapan from 2002-05; and the administrator and CFO of Hightstown from 2001-02.

From 2000-01 he worked as the CFO and director of finance for Marlboro, and from 1994 through 2000 Del Turco was the CFO and acting administrator in Jackson.

Prior to coming to Jackson in 1994, Del Turco worked for Mercer County as the assistant county treasurer; before that he was the CFO and director of finance in East Windsor and he worked in various other posts and locations as a finance officer, trust accountant and accountant.
