History Day Fair held at St. Veronica's School

St. Veronica's Catholic School, Howell, held a History Day Fair May 16 as part of the National History Day program. The sixth-grade students of St. Veronica had been working on their projects for the fair since October. The topic for this year's History Day Fair was "Triumph and Tragedy Through Ancient History." Students were allowed to choose from such topics as an event, a historical person, a significant archaeological find or an architectural achievement, with the students' only challenge being to prove it was a triumph or tragedy.

National History Day (NHD) is a yearlong education organization dedicated to improving the teaching and learning of history in elementary and secondary schools. NHD empowers teachers to improve history education so that every student will have historical knowledge and skills to contribute to the public good. Details: www.nhd.org.
