Contract awarded for fields
BY DAVE BENJAMIN
Staff Writer

JACKSON - The Township Council has awarded a contract for new playing fields at the Justice Complex off West Veterans Highway.

Two bids were received on the morning of June 26. LandTek Group, of Amityville N.Y., bid $3,316,809 and Atlantic Lining Co. Inc., of Lawrence-ville, bid $3,606,266, according to information provided by municipal officials last week.

The council awarded the contract to LandTek on the evening of June 26.

Business Administrator William Santos, who was working in his final week for Jackson before leaving for another position, said the fields to be installed at the Justice Complex will be made of synthetic turf.

He noted that LandTek recently received a contract from Jackson to upgrade recreational facilities at the Holman field. He said the firm is ahead of schedule and on budget at that project site.

Santos said consulting engineer Michael Piga and municipal engineer Daniel Burke both recommended that officials award LandTek the contract for the work at the Justice Complex.

Santos said one synthetic turf field to be installed at the Justice Complex will be for football and lacrosse. There will also be a full-sized synthetic turf soccer field which can be divided to make two mini-fields if necessary.

He said there will also be two synthetic turf baseball fields at the Justice Complex.

It is anticipated that work will begin in mid-July and be substantially completed in 90 days.
