James Peter 'Bubsy' Cummiskey Sr.

Mr. Cummiskey, 56, of Howell, died June 25, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born and raised in the New Brighton section of Staten Island, N.Y., he had lived in the Westerleigh section of Staten Island before moving to Howell in 1986. He was a U. S. Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam era. Mr. Cummiskey played high school basketball for St. Peter's High School for Boys, Staten Island. He was a letter carrier for more than 31 years, working in the St. George and Tottenville post offices in Staten Island. After retiring, he worked for the Lakewood BlueClaws, Lakewood. He was predeceased by his father, Albert "Bubs" Cummiskey, in 1999, and a sister, Mary Ellenn Cummiskey. Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Janice Cummiskey of Howell; a son, James Peter Cummiskey Jr. of Jackson; two daughters, Keri Cummiskey of Jackson, and Kelly Cummiskey and her fiancée, Matthew Ginsberg of Freehold; his mother, Betty Cummiskey of Staten Island; four sisters, Maureen Ortel of Manchester, Betsy Cummiskey of Staten Island, Jeannie Holder of Staten Island, and Lynn Olson of Roselle Park. A funeral Mass was offered at The Church of St. Veronica, Howell, followed by interment at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veteran's Cemetery, Arnytown. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's High School for Boys, 200 Clinton Ave., Staten Island, NY 10301.
