Robert J. Smith

Mr. Smith, 52, of Sarasota, Fla., and formerly Long Branch, died May 21, 2007, at home. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he resided in Long Branch prior to relocating to Sarasota nine years ago. He was a laborer for the Iron Workers Union. He enjoyed raising birds, playing golf and surfing. He was predeceased by his parents, Gertrude and George Smith. He is survived by a daughter, Jamie Plantamura of Long Branch; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Gail Smith of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Kenneth Metzler of Brick. A graveside service was held at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. Arrange-ments were by Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch.
