Steve Kevin Canty

Mr. Canty, 46, of Howell, died June 30, 2007, at Frankford Hospital, Philadelphia. He was born in Neptune. During his years in New Jersey, he worked in accounting and sales and was most recently employed by the Philadelphia Eagles' sales department. He was also a counselor at New Beginning, Philadelphia. Mr. Canty graduated in 1978 from Neptune Township High School, where he excelled at football. He received an associate in applied science degree from Chamberlayne Junior College, Boston, in 1980 and also completed one year at Bowie State University, Bowie, Md., where he was a member of the football team. He was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Asbury Park, and was active in the church's choir and youth ministries. Surviving are his children, Kevin and Alim, of Philadelphia, and Stephaney of Asbury Park; his mother and stepfather, Crystal and the Rev. Frederick Parrish; his father and stepmother, Frank and Lorrie Hoosendove of Freeport, N.Y.; three sisters, Tracey Calderon of Neptune, and Rachel Hoosendove and Dawn Askew-Woodward, both of Freeport; a brother, Mark Hoosendove, also of Freeport; his maternal grandmother, Fannie B. Lindsey of Neptune; four grandchildren; two aunts; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; and many friends. Funeral services were held at Bethel A.M.E. Church, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Elodee (McGovern) Dohrmann

Mrs. Dohrmann, 85, of Howell, died June 30, 2007. She was born in Newburgh, N.Y., and had resided in Cranbury for more than 30 years before moving to Whiting and then recently to Howell. A graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, she was a controller at Stewart Air Force Base in New York and a columnist for the Newburgh Star. After moving to New Jersey, Mrs. Dohrmann worked for The McGraw-Hill Cos. prior to retiring. She was a past member of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Hightstown. She was also a member of American Legion Post No. 148, Hightstown, and a past member of the Jamesburg Elks No. 2180 Ladies Auxiliary. She was predeceased by her husband, William F. Dohrmann Sr., in 1999, and a son, William F. Dohrmann Jr., in 1994. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Robert Wilmer of Hightstown, and Elodee and Edward Hughes of Howell, with whom she lived; four grandsons; twin granddaughters and an honorary granddaughter; six great-grandchildren; and two nieces. Funeral services were held at the Glackin/Saul Funeral Home, followed by interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery, both of Hightstown.

Sarah E. Kroen

Mrs. Kroen, 71, of Jackson died July 1, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She is survived by five sons; a daughter; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother; and a sister. Arrangements were under the direction of Clayton and McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.

Mae Marshowsky

Mrs. Marshowsky, 87, of Sanford, Fla., died July 1, 2007, at Lakeland (Fla.) Hospital. Born in Jersey City, she had resided in Hazlet before relocating to Sanford three years ago. She was a caregiver at Brookdale Nursing Home, Hazlet, and Navesink House, Red Bank, for several years. Mrs. Marshowsky was a former president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4303, West Keansburg section of Hazlet. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Marshowsky, in 1978, and a sister, Helen Slover. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Jennifer Bodtmann of Montgomery, Texas, and Michael and Marian Marshowsky of Sanford, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and John DiCapua of Jackson; a brother, Melvin Stewart of Florida; a sister, Joan Stegeman of Ocean; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown, followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
