The Nerds will perform Aug. 8 (rain date Aug. 9) in the second of three free outdoor concerts planned as part of Jackson Township's Concert Under the Stars series.

The Nerds are well known throughout New Jersey and beyond for their unique high-energy performances of rock 'n' roll favorites that have audiences dancing, singing and clapping. The band has been favorably recognized by music critics from LA Weekly to The New York Times.

The Punks, a rock band from Freehold with members ranging in ages from 12 to 14, will open for the Nerds at the concert. Members of the Punks are Evan Garcia (keyboards, guitar and vocals), Jack Kapulski (lead guitar), Anthony Casale (bass), Justin Zimmerman (guitar and lead vocals) and Christian Composto (drums).

The Concert Under the Stars is held at John F. Johnson Jr. Memorial Park, Cooks Bridge Road and Kierych Drive, Jackson. The park will open

at 6 p.m. with music from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Details: (732) 928-1200, ext. 255, or www.jacksontwpnj.net.
