Residents asked to comment on plan

JACKSON - A cross acceptance public hearing has been scheduled which may be of interest to Jackson residents. The hearing will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Ocean County Administration Building, 101 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, in the freeholders meeting room.

"The cross acceptance in the case of Jackson is that the state government wants to change certain lands in Jackson which are now designated as PA-3," said Blanche Krubner, a Planning Board member. "PA-3 means you can build on them. [The parcels would be changed] to PA-5, which means they are so environmentally sensitive that you shouldn't build on them. If you do, there will be lots of restrictions."

"Residents will be asked to speak at the hearing to express their thoughts on the subject, or they may write a letter instead," she said. They can't just sit by and let it happen."

Krubner said if there is no backing from Jackson residents and there is a lot of opposition to the change, the change will not happen.

"So people from Jackson have to come out," she said.
